Are all clutches created equal? Is there a particular clutch that is best for a tow vehicle? What are your thoughts?

I'd go with Centerforce if they have one for your rig.

there are different materials out there that are more suited for high performance applications and so forth but you aren't going to be pushing any insane horsepower or torque in your towrig so I wouldn't put anything special in there.

are you anticipating having to replace it soon?

Trey, yeah, I think I am going to have to replace it real soon, it is slipping. Not real bad yet, but this is also just normal driving and not pulling a load, I am afraid under load it will be worse.

I hear ya, probably not a bad idea to have it replaced before it gets slipped a whole lot and ruins your flywheel.. and btw nv4500's are not fun to pull..

For the weight you plan to haul a stock clutch should do just fine

if you plan on going with a gooseneck trailer and hauling a good bit of weight, Look into something like a South Bend for Valair (sp?)

it usually runs fine

does your dodge have a low gear then 1st,2nd,3rd, and OD?

LUK, makes awesome clutches. I've had one in my F150 for about 6 years now. It's rarely driven, but heavily abused in the mud and sand.
You can usually get them locally.

It has 1 - 5, but I usually just start out in 2nd because 1st is super low... so maybe it does, but I am not certain

I run this in my F350 and it is hands down better then the stock one. Although the stock one did get 185k. LOL

I've heard nothing but great things about southbend clutches. When my F-250's finally gives up the ghost, they're getting my business.

Well I picked up the truck last night with a new stock replacement clutch and WOW! It is a completely different truck now. I stalled out twice when I first got in it because the engagement point on the pedal used to be almost all the way out, now it is about three inches from the floor. If you are not careful you will chirp tires from 1 to 2 to 3.

I think the stock clutch will serve me just fine for what I will use the truck for, hopefully this one will give me another 100k.

Told ya that truck is beast. Its pretty the same torque as the cummins minus the turbo lag
