hey everyone
looking to get some opinions on a good 1/2" impact for work. i've used the IR 2135, and i like it, but i wouldnt mind something with some more nuts. im looking for 700ft/lbs and up, and im not terribly concerned about weight. any suggestions? thanks.

I'll have to look to find the model # of the one I have but it is a IR but w/ 1k ft/lbs of in reverse and ~800 if I call forward. Granted I paid $280-300 for it but I love it and don't think I'll have to buy another one for a good number of years. And I've already had it for 2 years now.

Get the IR titanium gun, it has 1000 ft/lbs of torque and is the lightest gun out there, I've had mine for 3 years and I love it. It constantly undoes bolts after everybody else in the shop has had a go

2135 is pretty much the biggest 1/2" gun you can get. If you need more power, you will need to step up to a 3/4" or 1" drive gun.

I would say IR Titanium, a few guys at work use them.. Once i get some money laying around I'm gonna get one to replace my blue point one. The snap-on one is supposed to be really good, but for over $100 less i can get the IR and its powerful enough for anything I do.

go to http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/ they normally have the best prices....on just about any tool.

and while your at it, take a look at the IR Titanium 3/8 Impact.. that one's fuckin cool. If i can fit it where I'm working.. I use it haha

i just got the good snap on one for 400 bucks, you can have a conversation with someone its so quiet. i got a deal with a set of lug nut sockets that have reverse flutes on the other end of the socket, they were 150 and i got them for free with the gun, as i should for what it cost me.

i was going to get the IR titanium 1K gun, but ended up getting the harbor freight 625ft/lb earthquake gun. Can't beat it for $50, holds up well and undoes everything. Great quality for a low price, my dads 3/4" locked me in on it.

IR does not have a 1/2" 1k gun - it's a marketing gimmick. They were advertising it as "1000 ft lbs of nut busting torque", but if you read the fine print, it is considerably less than that. Their strongest consumer 1/2" gun is the 2135TiMax which is 780 ft lbs. I have one, and I love it, but 1k ft lbs is misleading, IMO. NOBODY makes a true 1/2" 1k impact gun that I know of.

Now IR has a new pseudo rating - NBT (you guessed it, NUT BUSTING TORQUE!). The 2135TiMax has a NBT rating of 1,100.
