Thanks everyone for showing up. Hope to see yall on the trail next year.

Upload those biatches. I had a blast. Ryan, Matt, Joe and Conti were awesome guys to wheel with, even if the WJ struggled a bit in the mud :flipoff2:. I posted some in my thread but there arnt to many.

Looks like you guys had fun. Wish I could have made it up there. Maybe next year...

Who's black WJ? Is that the build from pirate 1-tonWJ or something like that? Greyjeep, your ZJ looks great.

the wj is jonathan conti's from moonworks. it's a sexy. sadly, he had some "custom" body work done this weekend to his back passenger door.

thanks man. but you may be talkin about the grey/silverish one. thats ryan's from trucks. and it looks awesome, really clean. mines the muddy one with the the front doors off haha.

had an great weekend, it was good to finally meet everybody. The WJ is the same one that was on pirate. Here is a list of my carnage.

broken front locker
1 busted shock
2 broken taillights
crushed rear driver door and shattered the glass
And I had alot of problems with my atlas linkage, it didn't want to shift out of low range.

but I was very happy with how well the WJ did.

Well I had a blast guys. It was great to meet all of you and I wish we had been there twice as long so we could mix up the different groups and all get to wheel together at some point.

We wheeled yesterday til 5:00 so I didn't get back in Atlanta til midnight, but it was worth it. Other than the beating my driver side tube work took in lions den, I think my only carnage of the weekend was a bent rear driveshaft yesterday on the last ledge on lower damnation.

I got some pics and video and will try to get it up soon.

oh and the tow rig is a nissan ;)

Man, what a weekend. It was awesome. We had a great time with you guys and it was good to put some faces with some names.

Thanks to everyone who helped us get what we need to get TV wise on Friday. I wish we had the time to get some footage of some of you guys playing around on Lion's Den. Oh well, we got some good stuff and it should make for some good TV. Thanks Cam for letting us put you on the spot, you did good!

Carnage for me was pretty limited and minor.
1- trashed steering stabilizer
2- cracked tail light - not even busted out!
3- small dent in the LR quarter panel that I didn't even notice unit unloading the trailer last night.

I was sooooo tempted to get up sunday and wheel with some of you guys but decided it would be best to head home with what I had.

Here are some of my pics. We got video too and I'll try to get that stuff up soon.

I wish I had more pics of everyone. We ended up getting the most shots of the rigs in front or behind us on the trail.

Mason Jar was my favorite trail. Nick (Locked and Loaded) and his passenger ?, Jonathon (JConti) and Matt (MoonWorks), Joe (Slim616) and Mandy, and Casey (greyjeep93) Ronnie (UTChavok) and Brooks were a great group of guys to wheel with.

I already can't wait till next year.

I had a blast as well. It was nice actually meeting all of you that I talk to so much on here. I rode w/ Conti all weekend and I see he's already posted up his carnage list! :). That's about all he talked about on the 7.5 hr ride home was how much work he had to do to upgrade/fix things that hung him up over the weekend.

Looking forward to next year already!

With his carnage list, it sounds like there is a bobbed dub-buggy in his future if he really wants to "upgrade" his broken parts.

Not to hijack, but will we be seeing the white ZJ at Big Dogs? Or you planning to ride bitch?

He's been talking about cutting it up. Think he really wants to keep it full bodied for the most part. It'll probably have to get smashed up more before he really cuts it up. That's all up to him so I'll let him comment on that. He does all his own work...just buys all his parts through me.

My ZJ probably won't be at big dogs in Sept so yes, I'll be probably ride bitch. Next time my ZJ is out on the trail...MANY changes will have been done! :drinkers:

Man I had a fantastic time and it was great to be back at a GSSE after a year away. Harlan is by far one of the most exciting places to wheel, and the group of people that I got to wheel with were great to be around on the trails. Thanks for making it a fun time. I did have a few bugs to work out on the YJ but by the end of the weekend I couldn't be happier with how it did for it's "test run". Now lookin forward to making some adjustments and heading back up there as soon as I can. Hope to see you guys back out on the trails again soon, not just at GSSE once a year!

we definately had the best turn out for GSSE ever..

had some pretty gnarly carnage in our group. Its not all that often you see 2 transfercases completely explode and a spun tube on a 9inch but we managed to get them all back to camp. I think it had to do with the full throttle assult required for absolutely every trail. I know i spent more time on the rev limiter this weekend than ever before.

I've got quite a few pics i'll get posted up as soon as I recover. I didn't get home until after 11 last night so Im feelin the pain today..

had a great time and can't wait for next year.

This is Brooks, Had a blast with you guys, next time i guess i'll bring the TJ out to wheel with all the grocery getters. We had some great weather for most of the weekend, but saturday night we had some. Cam, did the rain hold off for yall sunday?

It was a little cloudy in the morning but it fully cleared up and became awesome weather by the time we got up to mason jar. We ran railbed first, then the new trail above lower rock garden, and then tried to run mason jar but saturday night's rain had turned it into a slip n slide. After Sean (s-10) and I struggled to find any traction near the entrance, we made the call to run a shorter trail since we had 6 rigs and it was already early afternoon.

We ended up at lower damnation and all of us had to hammer down at the first ledge, which made for some good video. My rig started starving for fuel halfway up the ledge as the gas in the cell ran away from the pickup, so I had to steal some from Trey's rig. Half of the rigs even made the last ledge... chris in the white XJ, shane in his TJ, and mike (muddtracks) in his grand. I got too impatient and stayed in it after sliding off my line and came down hard enough on my rear driveshaft to bend it. I got some video that I will try to get up tonight.

What in the F am I doing in that last picture?! Guess that was after it slid and both right tires picked up in the air. What a tool.

The pic below on the highway is still one of my favorites. I can't believe we got away with that 30 min street drive. And even more surprising is nothing fell off of Joe's rig! It was great to see that working as well as it did. All that hard work is finally paying off, it was fun to watch it work well. You just need a torque wrench and lock tite haha. Oh yah...and cotter pins! I'm amazed my rig held together. I was beating it harder than I ever have and I'm not built near as good as everybody else was. I felt very under built for Harlan's terrain.

Trying to flee the parking lot campground the Titan's trans got a bit hot dragging the jeep up the muddy climb in 4wd on the access trail at the entrance of the park. Whooops! Other than the gas mileage the truck did damn good and didn't hold up your big ass diesels. "Can that thing keep up?" Lots of Nissan haters!!

There's a link to my pics and some videos. I didn't get a lot of footage cause I left my camera in my tow rig the first 2 days so...ya

Had a great time despite my super gay front drive shaft and the other breakages in my group. Good to see everybody again and meet some new folks. I think the only things I broke are the giant "1350" double cardain from drive shaft superstore, my 46re kinda shifts funny, but I think it's the electronics, and my already broken drivers side tail light lost a few more pieces.

I hope everybody who wanted to got a vid from GSSE08. I also hope it turned out decent cause I didn't watch the final cut before pumping out the 15 copies. Hope somebody got some vid of me coming out of grape vine the second time and posts that.

See ya'll next year or at Mt.City.

He was riding shotgun and jumped out and scampered away when it happened. It was a super slow roll being that I was in the process of winching myself up the ledge when i flopped it.

i'll tell you what, i'm glad you guys talked me into coming, I had a hell of a good time wheeling and meeting you all. Except for the whole driving along the cliff thing:rolleyes:

For the most part the first day our group (john, matt, nick, mandy, and the other matt) spent sight seeing since we had two rigs with no lockers with us, but the second day was one of the better wheeling days I had in a long time. Especially when we met up with Ryan, jennifer, Casey, Ronnie, and Brooks.

I have a bunch of pics and video of everyone that i'll try to upload tonight.

As for the jeep it did pretty well. Only broken part was a bad weld on my drive shaft, Other then that it held together pretty well. Probably next week i'll begin to tear down the jeep to get it ready for big dogs. During the 50 some mile back up on 81 i came up with a game plan on the jeep.

-Full hydro up front
-doubler or atlas if the tree work keeps busy
-gears and cromoly axels with 35 spline axle all the way around
-coil overs in the rear
- strech the wheel base another 6" or so. Probly 2" up front and 3 to 4" in the back.
-38" tires on bead locks
-rear winch bumper
- And yes some decent drive shafts

So matt (aka moonworks) i'll be using your customer service once again:D

Let me know if you want my NP231 that we talked about I can bring it with me when I come up to Rausch.

Also, anybody else bring anything home with them from Evarts? (ie, poison ivy or ticks) I had both. Not too much poison ivy and just one tick, and he hadn't been there long from the looks of his skinny ass.

I took the ZJ and pressure washed it last night and looked it over a little closer. It looks like my oil pan was barely getting hit by my track bar at full stuff. I got lucky it wasn't any worse and I'll be fixing that right away.

I noticed that when I went to check out your rig at the bottom of Mason Jar. Didn't say anything b/c I figured you already knew about it. I'd just replace it with a straight one as the bend is what was messing you up.

the video played just fine for me and i have a real dinosoar of a computer..

You might be the only one who brought home a tick, my dog didn't even get any and she's been a magnet for them this year..

glad you didn't get too many harlan mods to your rig so hopefully you can keep the YJ... hahaha...

Looking great everyone. When is that episode going to run? I'm interested to see the coverage.

This is just under 6 hours from me. I'm Planning on it next year, which means I'll be busy this winter.

Sounds like they may be moving it to Callalantee, in Mt. City, TN. next year so it'll be even closer. I'm headed to Mt. City this weekend for a Toy Run. It'll be my first time up there...

The Mt. City talk was just about another ride happening in the next month or so. GSSE is staying put. Harlan really is the best place I have ever wheeled, and it just keeps getting better.

At GSSE, a lot of us talked about putting together a "grand slam winter" (GSW)? ;) at somewhere like windrock or callalantee. If there is any interest for that, sometime between december and march, just let us know and we will put something together.

Are those places typically devoid of snow in the winter? Or are they at a high enough elevation that they can get hit pretty good?

I've gotten stuck in snow storms after wheeling events and let me tell you -- driving down the highway in a blizzard towing 7000lbs behind a 1/2 ton pickup isn't fun.

GW3? - Grands Winter Wheelin' at Windrock.

I'd go. It was pretty nice when we were there this past Feb. It snowed a tiny bit but didn't really stick to the road. And it's not typical for it to snow down here in TN.

windrock isn't a bad idea... it would definately be warmer in knoxville than mtn city... there are hotels that are pretty close to the trails at windrock too...

Ya, sorry if some people were confused. I was talking about seeing some of the folks at an up coming run at Mt. City

I do want to hit up windrock but it's hard for me to get time off in winter cause it's too close to the holidays but I may be able to swing it if a date gets set soon enough and I can request the time off.

Ill get our stuff up shortly. I hauled mine back to FL got home at 6PM and was on a plane for work the next day at 6AM. Been out till yesterday then spent hte day getting everything unloaded and cleaned up. You should have seent the girls face at the car wash when I drove in. She charged my the $5 extra dirty fee. OK?! I lost a screw on the trail. Wouldnt have been so bad except it was holding the air in my tire. By the time I got home it was compeltely flat on the trailer. SO if you found a 2 inch wood screw I need that back to fix my flat. Had a blast and thanks to all for letting us slow you down.

Our "air" schedule is being mixed up for the first time this fall/winter. They (Spike) are going to be mixing the reruns in with the new shows instead of running all of our new shows in a row followed by reruns. I'll try to figure it out tomorrow and post it up.

And just so you guys are aware the main reason we went to Harlan was to film our XJ. I was just lucky enough to be able to talk the crew into traveling and getting some footage of GSSE while we were there. I'll do my best to get some good GSSE coverge into the show. Just don't show up at my door with pitch forks if you don't think we did it right.:D

I've been going through some of the footage Jenn and I shot and I'm editing it down so you don't have to watch crappy video in between the good stuff. I hope to be done in the next few days.

I have a little of that on my photobucket page. It took for ever to upload there. I hate it. I have another view of seanzy poppin a wheelie and ejecting his spring too. I used some super homo free program to cut down the size of the longer vids instead of cutting them up but it killed the quality. Did anybody get mudtrax spinning the 9" tube? Awesome pics and video. Cam, that's an awesome video of your rig - I love how you just launched it up onto that ledge, really cool! I gotta plan on coming down there next year - even if I have to bail out on GSE. Hopefully, there will be other guys commit to coming who are built in the more "intermediate" range - looks like those trails are a step above what I'm built for.

Unfortunately, my WJ is having to pull daily driver duty now - our '07 Commander was totalled a couple weeks before GSSE so at that point I had to hurry and get the WJ patched up from GSE and in good enough shape for the highway.

basically yes. To fix it, just rotated it back with a prybar, straightened it with a bottle jack, pressed it in with the tire of another rig, and then welded it.

Alright, as of now (and it should stay the same) it looks like the XJ/GSSE show won't air until the 3rd weekend in January. For some reason the network is spreading out the new shows with reruns mixed in. What would have normally aired in late Sept. or early Oct is now in Jan. Sorry fellas - not my decision, or anyone else's here.
