On my last wheeling trip I had one hell of a time with the seatbelts locking at the worst times. I got really pissed on this one steep hill where I really needed to look out the side window to get a better tire placement but was literally being choked from the belt and couldn't move. I didn't want to do it but I had to unstrap so I could see wtf I was doing...even letting it retract wouldn't get it to release. The second I was on flatter ground the belts released and worked normally. What do you guys do to get a balance between being able to move around yet still remain strapped in?

Pull out some slack before you go down hill, otherwise 4 or 5 point harness.

this was going uphill. I tried the slack thing later on but with moving around and looking out I wasn't smart enough to make it work apparently.

Get 4 point harnesses and just use the lap belt while coasting around the mild terrain.

All seatbelts have a built in detent that automatically locks past a certain angle this is what stops you from going forward in a wreck and it will lock no matter which way the angle is [front up or down].

At a minimum add a a lap belt.
