It was fun getting to see everyone again. We had grands there as little as a 2" BB all the way up to a couple with 1 tons so we had really diverse group for sure.

Hopefully I'll be able to get some pictures off my camera later on today. My camera broke like my rig did so I've got a few but not many. So who ever has pics/video...post away.

...can we get the video of me on breaking please? :smt042:smt010:smt042

I'll try to get the breakage vid posted tomorrow morning when I get off from work... I should have time to run the video onto my PC then.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to see most of you, but I had some issues.

On friday I ran Wahoo, ET, and Hard Rock Crawlers. I was really happy with the way the robot performed except for a busted valve stem.

On Saturday we wanted to run Pennsyltuckian, but some douchebag in a chop top ZJ was clogging the trail :finga:. But seriously, there were quite a few groups on the trail, so we turned around ran up U-turn. Dealt with some u-joint issues on another rig and went down Corum. Then we ran Pennsyltuckien, but I shot out a steering box bolt out the side of my rig when trying to bump it over a tree root. Steering pump went bye bye, too. We weren't able to get the box braced enough to limp me back to camp so we left it on the trail...

...so I ran to the parts store. With the bonfire starting at 8, we decided to just work on it in the morning since working in the dark was just asking for trouble. However, the one guy in my group offered to see what we could get done, so we went and fixed my junk in the dark on the trail and got back to camp around 12.

So then I found out that my name was the first one called for the Warn M8000 winch at the bonfire -- but of course I didn't win because I wasn't there....

I'm getting pumped to wheel on Sunday, only to notice a bad steering fluid leak -- which ended up being a defective steering pump. So I rode bitch on Sunday.

Still a good weekend despite the winch I didn't win and the $300+ trip to the parts store...

I saw your rig sitting down in the field sunday and was wondering what was up. I had a spare box and pump sitting at camp. Come find me next time b/c chances are, I'll have it. I pretty much packed up every extra part I had sitting around...even if it didn't fit my rig. Sucks you had problems.

I'll find out tomorrow if it was the locker or r&p in my front end that let go. But I know my tcase is trash.

That sucks about your xfer case, Matt... I know I got a good vid of it breaking tho!
Also, I have nothing but good to say about the Warn m8000 that Jared didn't win... I was very pleased to see how it pulled you up winch hill, even with the trashed front axle, the locked up rear end, and the extra 150+ pounds of mud on the vehicle! It was a pretty steep trail too... what kinda angle do you think we're talking??

A bit of a kudos here... my Dad was very impressed with the group of guys that I ran with... He was impressed with the way that everyone pulled together to help and fix broken junk, and about how gracious everyone was to each other!

Post #6... Was that Joe's rig?!? When the heck did he get there? I looked for him all Friday and Sat AM before we had to take off...

Jared, Dude, that sucks about all of your breakage and problems... wow! I had no clue. I'm glad we all had fun, but the repairs and everything suck! I definately love some of the things you have done to the robot though... I was very impressed to see it after the writeup and everything that I was reading, and knowing Eric and Mike's abilities... It was awesome to see!

Thanks again to everybody!
I had a great time, nothing broken except my fuel pump, and a bolt busted out of one of my door latches.
I did have a problem with overheating on the way home, and will be working on cooling resolutions as well as a better gear ratio for the Jeep before Main Jambo!

Joe was on Pennsyltuckian Sat AM. I ran into him just after he realized that he needs limit straps.

It should be available in HD as soon as YouTube finishes processing it.

Hey, sorry guys that I didn't catch up with alot of you but it seemed that my rig had other ideas. Fri we ran corrum and I had a few minor issues pop up that i had to go back to camp and fix. Sat on the way to the drivers meeting, my front drive shaft decided to gernade it self. So after an hour or so we got the front drive shaft up and running again so we headed of to the Pennsyltuckian to see what the zj had. Well after a few minutes on the trail I relized that I had a problem with my rear coils falling out. This is about the time some group come flying up the trail trying to push their way through so we had to shut the trail down:) Anyway after fixing that small prob i ran that trial with out no issues till the end were all the buggies and well built rigs were having probs getting up this ledge. Well I decided to go for broke and the zj performed flawless till the last 2 feet or so. To make a long story short the v8 gave it all it had. The jeep came up the ledge on the back to tires on the first shot. When it came down on the flat trail at the top is when all hell broke loose. When I came down the rear drive shaft broke and spun at full rpm which took out one of the upper CA on the four link and the suck down winch. On the front axle the coil decided to pop out when i came down letting the front axle shift which in turn wiped out the hydro steering. But on all good note the jeep was able to drive it self out the trail under its own power back to the camp site.
All in all its back to the drawing board with the jeep to get all the small probs worked out but I was really impressed at how stable the jeep is now with the 60's. I did off camber stuff sat that would of rolled me with out a dout with the 30/8.8 combo.
Again sorry I didn't catch up with alot of you guys but you all should make an effort in trying to make it down to big dogs in sept for main jambo so we can all have another good turn out. Also jonathan drop me a line some time so we can catch up.

These are my only pics. I have a couple videos uploading too. No grands though. I know there were some pics (and maybe video) of the robot, so I'll add those once they get posted.

The PBR buggy is Mike (SB406 -- the guy that did my cage). The green circus wagon is Ryan and on 47" LTBs.

Mike (SB406) actually won the Ruff Stuff diff cover that I gave away saturday night!!!

Oh...and thanks for dinner saturday night Joe! It was damn good. Sorry I had to run but I was late as crap getting down to the field party. They had been calling me for a while over the PA before I got down there.

Time for a new front axle. :D

That carrier looks pretty angry. Did it take out anything else besides the carrier? I can't remember -- is your front axle trussed?

MoonWorks

I'm thinking it happened in this order...

Carrier, crosspin, then all the pins in the lockrite snapped, and then the jacked up carrier ate up the tip of the pinion gear.

So yeah, it's pretty much all trashed. From a quite look over the lockright, it looks ok. I'm hoping I can get a new pin and spring set so I'll atleast be able to save that but the rest is toast.

This is my second carrier, one lockrite broke in half, 3 gear sets and who knows how many axle shafts...it's got to come out!

Big thanks to Moonworks for the diff cover. It came in last week, but I haven't been online. I'm very impressed by the BEEF of this thing. Your prompt shipment was impressive too. Thanks again!

Oh, and the PBR buggy broke too. Last trail of the day on Sunday - KGB.
I broke another D60 stub shaft. After looking at it, it appears to have been cracked from previous abuse. I don't understand how that happened.......:D

Completely unrelated, but I caught part of "Time Warp" the other day and figured it'd be cool to have a high speed camera take video of the internals exploding as it happens.

Not a problem man. Glad it worked out how it did and you won it! And yes, that cover (Ruff Stuff Specialties) is beef as hell. If you dent it...you've got issues!

That would be pretty cool to see in slowmo.
