I am wanting to make a rear bumper with a swing out tire carrier for my Jeep and am looking for a good source for the following parts:

1) Bearing kit for the swing out carrier - I want to make this a double sheer connection point.
2) A good latch to keep it closed and rattle free.
3) Good tabs to hook d-rings
4) Square tubing for a hitch
5) 5 on 5 plate for wheel studs to mount tire to

So anyone know any good on-line parts stores?

Thanks duders,
Jack

1) Bearing kit for the swing out carrier - I want to make this a double sheer connection point.

Use two tubes, one fitting inside the other. Drill the outer tube for a grease zerk fitting.

2) A good latch to keep it closed and rattle free.

McMaster-Carr pn 5135A25.

3) Good tabs to hook d-rings

Balistic Fab.

4) Square tubing for a hitch

Local steel supplier

5) 5 on 5 plate for wheel studs to mount tire to

Drill some holes in a 1/4" plate, you really only need 3 studs for the spare.

I'v also been looking into components for fabbing my own swingaway. Stay away from those 1Klb spindles.

From what i'v been reading there are a few spindles that dont seem to be failing, check these out. I think i'll be going with one of these.

That kit form A to Z looks pretty damn good! I build my own spindles, and hubs for swing outs, and that whole kit costs less then the labor that goes into machining. Only question I would have is what diameter the spindle is, and what material its made from. Mild steel is ok for those, but if you get to much tire swinging on it it might bend. Although, I have only seen 1 ZJ in my whole life with a 44" tire! Im sure up to a 35" would be fine.
