View Full Version : I need a ZJ pic on Hells Revenge

Similar to this one of John's WJ:

http://www.fp-kites.com/images/Jeep/GSW2K8/Saturday/GSW%20108.jpg

This would be for the 2009 GSW T shirt design.

I searched a lot of the GSW pic threads and can't find a clear shot without John spotting in front of the ZJ (therefore obscuring the front of the ZJ).

If anyone has any such pics, can you post them up?

Thanks,

Tom.

Can you post a bigger pic? I can't quite see what's going on there. :flipoff2:

Sorry mine's so small. ( have hi-res if you need it, just don't want to post it cause it'd be to big ;) )

I have a number of photographs on film. They can be rescanned to enlarge cropped portions of the negative. How should I send digital copies to you? Do you want to PM me with an email address?

Doesn't quite fit on your phone?

Not my pic, so I didn't want to mess with it.

That's pretty good and I can use if no others surface. The ideal shot whould be head on with a bit more articulation with the rock V directly underneath the ZJ. (Yes, I'm picky.) High res is NOT required.

PM sent.

High resolution will get you in closer without too many "artifacts" that jpg's are known for when it comes time to crop in close.

Excellent Cody - I can use that one. I'd still like a non-buggy ZJ shot if anyone has one.

Tom,

1) You want ZJs coming up Hells Gate. I will send you the scans later this weekend. Tell me which photos you want and what size you want the ZJ to appear for the final print [the rest will be foreground and background showing the steepness of Hells Gate. I will then scan the negative for the best resolution for that size.
2) Do you also want photos of ZJs down down to Hells Gate?

I just emailed you 10 photographs of ZJs.

Steve

I'll see what I got at the fall trip - several of my Heep coming up the gate - I'll display here, and hi-res is definitely available.

Here's Stan right around the time he added a brown stain to his seat

This one might be the ticket - The angle's not quite right because either I or Bridget were off to the side, but that's a nice cris-cross.

*Edit: All of my gate pics start here: http://www.fp-kites.com/images/Jeep/MallCrawlin_Fall2008/index.php?start=123. Perhaps somebody will find a better one.

Tom, my pics are at your disposal. Let me know if you need hi-res. They're all on my webhost, just in a different folder.

Thanks a lot guys - thanks for the email Steve. Jim's shot of Stan takes the prize. That shot is gonna make the WJ and WK shots look like...well like they're at the mall!

The first one of Stan is better - more daylight under the ZJ - which looks better for my design.

Since you have great pics - can you see if you have a better one of a WJ - with more daylight underneath than the one I posted?

I'll have to look at GSW for that. We actually didn't have any WJs on the fall trip.

Should have some good stuff from GSW though - I probably shot at least 150 at the gate alone.

Damn - my gate pics at GSW were not so good. I got more brave at the fall trip and got better head-on pics. At GSW, I was more to the side.

Looks like the only Dub pics I got there were John and David. John's ascent was kind of bland, and David's ascent had John's big butt in the way

Sorry Tom :(

I assended into John's butt? Damn, I musta been hypoxic from running up the hill to help with the injury. Sorry John.

;)

Sorry I can't help with the pictures, I think the number of pictures I take has gone down exponetially with the number of years I have attended...

I checked with Jane, she says it's cute ;), but I'm not sharing, so stay away from my butt. :D

Black ZJ, I never heard of a flop or flip. Not even an XJ. Plenty have laid on their side though. Scott & Matt came close to being on their side in 06. I won't say who the spotter was.:D Needless to say someone else took over the job.

Back in 06 between my Dad with his camera & Keith with mine & all the photos they took of me coming up they both failed miserably to get a good articulation shot.:(

Good photos but dad didn't zoom in major crop third photo & Keith missed the flex on all except one but it's not looking through & under. Here's their best shots.

Yeah, I have seen some of the videos of guys rolling, but it seems like the LWB vehicles would be fine unless you are just a complete idiot. So at GSW you can't go up unless you have 33's and lockers front and rear?

I have been on my side. Slid off the wall and landed on my rear bumper, which saved the side of the Grand.

never underestimate people.

I did it open on 33's 6-7 years ago. The only problem with open diffs is that if you get slighly off line or you don't happen to make it up the last ledge on your first go, the open diffs will give you a greater chance of hopping further off line, and less chance of driving it out of it.

I still believe you're less likely to break axles with lockers...so there is no excuse ;)

I really want to make a trip out there one year...
