Dave and I went on a run with the Zutah crew in the 5 Mile Pass area. Nothing like wheling on New Years Day This was a challenging run. Tons of fun for all. I will admit to being strapped once at the beginning and once at the end. The new lift and disconnects work very well.

So my buddy Dave snagged this shot of me stuck before we even got to the first real obstacle... Ron came up and strapped me some of the way, but then they threatened the ZJ with the winch cable and up it went... Flexes pretty good though!

So I never thought I was going to make it to this first big climb after getting stuck. Dave and I were wondering if we were in over our heads on this run. Backed down this climb twice... But made it.

Ron had the Wrangler up on three wheels, hanging the right front a good foot or more. That tree on the right had an apetite for CB antennas.

Dave learned from all my mistakes and motored through everything!

This just didn't look like the best way down. Jeff and others had some difficulty before this. So the rest of us chose another way down.

Kelly and the rest of us came down this way. Not near as stressful.

So, after Jeff brought us down Rattlesnake, we hit this one last obstacle. It took Jeff a couple tries, but he made it up. Me on the other hand, I SHOULD have stopped after the third try and backed out. (Sorry coach, I tried!!!) I finally took the strap, but I'm afraid I did something to the ZJ. I'm down on power, though I did drive it home OK for the most part.

So everyone else made it up the obstacle but me.

And all the rest of my images...

So I am happy with the way the ZJ suspension worked this trip. When i couldn't even get to the first climb without getting stuck, I really questioned if I should even be out with this group. But once I got the first climb, I was pretty happy and had a good run. Rattlesnake was a blast, but there was one drop off that I hit under the rockers, and bounced pretty hard on the trailer hitch.

More from others!!!

Wheeling in the snow is nice, ice not so much. I once was headed backwards down a fire road sliding on ice leading to a 75ish foot wooded drop, lucky it decided to stop. Funny since it just looked like hardpack snow and as a snowboarder you think I'd know the difference. But looks like an awesome time. What type of tires are you running?

Wildcat ATs from Les Schwab. I got them for like $100 used from a buddy. My 30s were about shot, and I wanted 31s. He bought some used 35s and I grabbed his 31s. If I get some sort of 33s for my Ranger project, I'll have a set of BFG Ats in 31s that I might prefer. Then again, I might be talked into some 32s for the ZJ.

I'm leary of BFG ATs, though, the set of 235s that were on the ZJ when I bought wouldn't stay balanced. OR, it might have been the wheels they were mounted on wouldn't stay tight. Either way, I removed them both and gave the wheels to a friend, and he has the same issue. So I might jsut try the ATs again.

My dad has run ONLY BFG AT's on his last 3 grand's, highway and moderate trails.

He does 50k per year.
