Hey guys, been lurking awhile.. thought i'd come out of hiding when i saw this new board.
I'v own an XJ i'v been building for Overland style wheelin... but i now find myself owning a second ZJ. :smt115 Theres a few things i like about the ZJ that has me wondering if i should swap platforms. So, inspire me, show me your expedition rig.

Damn comfortable. Bad back forced me away from ground tents, should have gotten one sooner. I have a trailer project it'll eventually find a home on.
You can find the Autohome line here.

but i shoudl be in a house in the next 3 months. when that happends i'll be buildign up a body on frame ZJ camping/expedition rig.
That's a sweet little XJ you have there Overland.
I consider it a cross between expedition vehicle and moderate rock crawler.

Thanks for the compliments gents.
Cody, whats the specs on your rig? Looks to be sitting on 35's?
I'm pretty much done with the rocks, i think a ZJ on 33x10.5's would suit me well. I'm feeling a bit cramped in the XJ lately.

I'm trying to make mine a little more expedition comfortable.

The wife's rig is better for expedition type stuff right now since it's still full body.

Mine will hopefully be fully enclosed again by spring, and both rigs will be getting some racks and storage systems.

Not to hijack, but what are your plans on how you're gonna enclose it? Are you gonna plate the openings or something completely different?

Still working out the details, but will probably graft a sliding truck window into the back.

No, not going to touch it till spring. I'm kinda leaning towards a mildly built daily driver that i'll slowly transform to an Overland capable rig. I just have too much time and energy in the XJ at the moment to replace it completely. Maybe in a few more years.
But keep pics coming, i'v been known to change my mind way too often. :D

here is the start of mine 94zj, 2"bb, 31"mtrs,recovery points, tools and equipment,co2 bottle storage in back,cb, homemade roof rack http://http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo99/arizona-gamebird/wheeling003.jpg]

I guess I should update my fototime account.
Ya 35's, dynatrac 60 rear, 44 front w/ warns and ctm's, locked front and rear, 6" lift, long arms, winch, heated leather seats, v8, etc etc.
It's a little big for expedition stuff, but I'm more setup to handle washed out roads or bad trail conditions if I ever run into them.

Nice lookin XJ!!! I am in the same boat as you. I have a XJ that I am currently finishing the full width on. I just got the wifes ZJ and installed some acos up front and some factory XJ coils in the rear. Now my flavor has changed and I really want to get the ZJ in the air.
Here's the Pesent with out the full width:

Nice rig! I think i might have seen a trip report of yours somewhere..
Funny you should bump this thread today... son was over and helped me adjust the trackbars and bleed the brakes for it's first run around the neighborhood. Still have plenty of work to do, but so far i'm glad i swapped platforms.. the ZJ is much more comfortable for me.

Nice zj, I really like the cage. I can see that ladder being useful too esp. on a rig like mine. Any more detailed pics of the cage, internal, mounting points?

Looks like a 3-4.5" lift, an ARB, and bushwacker cut-outs. I can't tell from the picture, but possibly short arm. Still has the factory steering set-up.
