So, as many of you know, the Urban Assault Vehicle is deceased. I have now taken on a new task by joining the darkside, thus begins Urban Assault Vehicle V2.0.

A week ago I picked up a 1981 Toyota Landcruiser from a guy in Greeley, CO. The price was right and I was looking for a new toy to tinker with. After initial inspection it seemed like a good enough deal so I drove it back to Denver.

The more I am tearing into it, the more I am realizing it needs A LOT of TLC. I guess every project is like that. This is my first Toyota build so things are a bit different (read: a real frame, lack of torx bolts, carburator). The plan with this rig is to do a semi-restoration. I can't do a full frame-off resto because I have neither the time nor the garage space for that endeavor. This may be a moderate wheeler, possibly a SOA with 33's and a rear locker, but nothing like the old ZJ.

Here are some general pics. She needs alot of work.

Today I wanted to get an idea of the rust I was going to have to battle. Surprisingly, it isn't too bad. I'm going to patch a couple of spots on the rear wheel wells and call it good. I pulled the seats, door panels, carpet, and center console.

These front seats are nasty. The drivers is covered by a cheesy wool cover and feels like sitting on a crate. They are being replaced by seats from a 2002 Camry. The new seats are brown cloth (the leather in the ZJ taught me that I hate leather!), are power adjustable, and only $20 a piece. BLING!

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/181.jpg

The front was pretty dirty.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/185.jpg

The rust on the fender well.

Cleaned out.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/191.jpg

I will get some better pics soon. This is a night-time project so it's hard to get good pics.

I did just order a new center console. The stock one was broken and disgusting. The new one is from quadratec and should be here within a few days. (attached pic)

Looking good Elliot. I must say that I am jealous, since my ZJ too has recently passed... Keep us in the loop!

What are your plans for the floor pan? Re-carpeting or something along the lines of paint/ or bed liner?

I am putting down new insulation and steam cleaning the carpet. Once all of the sticks, dust, and dirt were shaken off it was actually pretty clean.

Dave, I may be hitting you up on that offer. When I got rid of the jeep and got into med school mode, I got rid of most of my power tools (grinders, sanders, etc). I am slowly reviving my collection.

Justin, these tires really are older than dirt. They'll probably be replaced by some MT/R's.

I am putting down new insulation and steam cleaning the carpet. Once all of the sticks, dust, and dirt were shaken off it was actually pretty clean.

Since you have the carpet out, peel off any jute from the back of the carpet, and give it a good scrub using warm water and Woolite. I use a stiff bristle brush and give the whole thing a good scrubbing with a thorough rinse with a garden hose. Let air dry, then hit it with at least 3 coats of 3M Scotchguard (the real stuff if possible).

Replace the jute. If you were careful taking off the old, you can use it as a template. I've been using this jute as replacement: http://www.stockinteriors.com/jute.asp?ItemId=4794
I've had very good luck with the adhesive from the same place: http://www.stockinteriors.com/headlineradhesive.asp

For sound deadener, I personally like B-Quiet Ultimate, but if you want to keep it on the cheap, pick up a roll of butyl ice dam from your local Home Depot/Lowes roofing section. I typically use the Ultimate anywhere I want to reflect heat (like on the transmission tunnel) and the ice dam everywhere else. You also don't need to cover every inch with the stuff either.

I have a ton of the cheaper stuff called insul-foil on mine, I did the doors, roof 2x, and rear hatch and will do the floor soon. but I can tell a difference on the roof layers, the inside temp is not near as hot after sitting in the sun all day as it was with the stock setup.

I spent part of today dealing with the previous owner's shady alarm system. It was a super hack job and a complete rats nest. I am tearing apart the dash for the heater core, along with checking out all the wiring, and cleaning things up. Here are some pics of the progression.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/_MG_7030.jpg

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/_MG_7035.jpg

Ridiculous. Wires tied into the stereo, lights, EVERYWHERE.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/_MG_7049.jpg

In all 4 doors there were OLD SCHOOL crossover components that stemmed from the 20 year old Kenwood tape deck and separate equailizer. None of this junk worked when I got the truck... so they are trash.

Very nice progress! I ripped out all the PO's stereo bullshit out of my 951 as soon as I got it home too. Your heater core has connections that look similar to my car. Clip that holds the two flanges together and a seal inside. If that is a clip, keep your hand over it - they like to go flying when you pry it off! Now is a good time to wash out the HVAC ducts too. Was there any bad damage to the original wiring harness?

Seeing your progress is motivating me to go work on my junk again. Stripping out all the original deadener sucks balls and I've been avoiding it. I worked on it the other day - there's only a small amount left to clean up, then I can start putting the new shit .

ELLLLLIOTTTTT
12-26-2008, 12:34 AM
There is now no wiring for the stereo anymore. So I'm basically going to start over with a new head unit, it's wiring harness, and then run all of the wires to their respective speakers. What sucks is that I'm going to have to fix the giant holes in the door panels where the old speakers were. Super pain in the ass.

On a lighter side, I got a full set of seats for $50. Out of an 04 Camry, brown cloth. Shouldn't take too much to adapt them to the Cruiser.

I got the heater core out today. I really think they designed the rest of the car around the friggin heater core. So I'm going to get both of them pressure tested at a radiator shop (the PO included a spare core), throw some new O-rings on the pipes and then start reassembling the dash.

So I got the heater core pressure tested and it was good to go. Threw a couple of new o-rings on the pipes, and started reassembling everything. I REALLY hope this thing doesn't leak, I NEVER want to mess with the heater core again.

I also threw down a couple layers of insulation in the back. I used similar stuff in the ZJ and really liked it. I got a new roll of carpet pad too, its much denser than the stock stuff so it will be nice and quiet inside.

Here is a customer's FJ60 with a LS motor and 4L60e going into it in my friend's shop here in town. It's a stupid amount of work but is turning out very clean. They went to the trouble to keep the stock Cruiser gauges by converting the computer's signals. This thing hauls ass.

It's been a few weeks since I've updated this. I've been really busy with a new job and shoving in a 70 day snowboarding season but I finally got to mess with the 60 again today.

I've cut the rust out of the wheel wells. They are going to be patched up (probably with rivets) along with some rust bullet. I'm not too worried about its aesthetics as it will be covered up by carpet anyway.

A couple pics of the rust.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/_MG_7091.jpg

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/_MG_7092.jpg

And no more... that I can see.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/_MG_7095.jpg

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/_MG_7097.jpg

Then I finished laying down some insulation. I know its no dynamat but I used it on my jeep and got really good results for a fraction of the price. I used 3 rolls to cover the entire floor twice. When I get to fixing the headliner I will probably insulate the roof as well.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/_MG_7296.jpg

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/_MG_7294.jpg

I ran all new speaker wires to the doors and will probably end up making a new harness to accomodate a CD player that was made sometime in my lifetime. So now the duct work for the HVAC, all the miscellaneous interior pieces, and everything is starting to come back together. Quite a tedious process.

I got a few hours today to work on the rig. The rear interior panels had gotten wet (from the rusted out hole in the rear quarter panel) and were completely trashed. So I made some new ones out of 1/4" oak. I am going to cover them with something, or maybe just paint them, I don't know yet.

I am going to cut little doors out in them (already got the hinges and latches) so that I can store stuff behind the panels. There is actually a good amount of room behind them.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/_MG_7303.jpg

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/_MG_7307.jpg

I also started laying some of the new carpet. I got this stuff for FREE because it was left over from where our IT office was recarpeting. So this stuff is brand new, and way stiff. I know office carpet was not meant for automobiles but I really didn't want to spend $700 on a new carpet kit.

It has different shades of tan and brown, which go perfectly with the rest of the truck.

So I'm having a seat dilemma. I backed out on placing my order for the 2 big boxes after talking to the owner of the company. They were going to be Procar tan, leather, adjustable seats. But to get the rear seats to match would have been a $700 job at the upholstery place. A little pricey for me. So I'm thinking of restuffing the stock seats and throwing on some wet okole seat covers. This is still up in the air though.

Anyway, I got a couple hours today to finish up the majority of the carpet. This stuff was never meant to go in an automobile but I think it came out surprisingly well, and it was a free upgrade. I used the heat gun to shape the rigid bottom around the contours. I just have to finish up the trans tunnel now.

I spent a few hours tonight removing the crappy tint job. This was a real pain but it looks 100x better now with all that cheesy purple film from obstructing my view.

As you can see, I could barely see through this junk.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserInt/_MG_7385.jpg

I used a heat gun to soften up this ancient film and adhesive. It worked fairly well. Then I sprayed some "Goo Gone" on it and let it set for 5 minutes or so. After that I shot it with some WD-40 over the Goo-Gone (which helped tremendously) and started scrubbing the adhesive with the nylon brush. The box cutter and prybar were just used for scraping and/or starting a new peeling edge.

New bling. Front and rear Wet Okole covers with sewn in logo. I got a decent stock passenger seat and restuffed the drivers seat. They are both pretty comfortable and will be styling with the new covers. I'll probably install them this weekend.

So I seriously hurt myself yesterday snowboarding. Broken hand, giant gash in my shin, and a hip that now clicks when I try to walk on it. Regardless, I got out into the garage after a few tylenol and a couple of beers of course. Not an incredibly productive day but I need to recover.

Got the seats installed.

After installing the seats, I had to give my roommates car a tuneup. It's a 2007 Chrysler 300, it's really nice to work on something so new. Took about an hour to change the spark plugs, coil packs, and injectors. It's running like butter now!

So, I get back to my rig now. I pulled the valve cover, carb, and distributor. I am sending the carb off to be rebuilt and tuned as well as the distributor to get re-curved to my specs. I've never rebuilt a carb so I will gladly pay someone for me to save my sanity.

This car is in need of some serious TLC. I can't wait to get it back all shined up.

Been putting in 30 mins here, and hour there, slowly getting my motor torn apart and ready for a rebuild. I had to hack my air rail to get it off but with the desmog already commenced that shouldn't matter. The air rail, air pump, and various hoses and check valves are being chucked to free up real estate. I think I am just going to devane the smog pump instead of spending the extra $ for a pulley. This may change though.

I put in a little bit of time on it today. The rain cut my bike ride short.

I got the intake and exhaust manifold off. I also got the power steering pump off and will be rebuilding it. Fortunately, the main shafts bushing is intact so I can just replace the internal o-rings without having to buy a new/reman'd PS pump. I am also still pulling a lot of the smog junk and modifying it to be a smogless truck. It's quite a pain.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7572.jpg

A pile of dirty parts that will soon be bling-a-fied!

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7574.jpg

Here's an idea of how grimey EVERYTHING on this truck is. I have already gone through a box of 100 latex gloves and a carton of shop towels. PS fluid, motor oil, and 28 years of dirt and junk.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7567.jpg

Of course, degreaser and a wire wheel makes short work of it.

Head is off and going to the machine shop tomorrow. By the time I get back from Moab, everything should be about ready to reinstall.

The head is getting
-hot tanked (read: shiny and clean!)
-complete valve job
-oil gallery plug drilled and tapped
-OEM gasket
-OEM valve guides

All of this at Gunn Automotive here in Denver. I have heard great reviews about them, apparently they are the best in the business.

The grimey head next to the old gasket

And I don't know what kind of cylinder crosshatch I'm supposed to be seeing here on a motor with 200K miles on it, or how that really works but this is what I see. The cylinder wall seems fairly uniform on all 6 cylinders. I guess this is a good sign for my piston rings.

So I haven't touched this thing since I've been back from Moab but I did pick up the head from the machine shop. It got a complete valve job, new valve guides and seals, got the oil galley plug drilled and tapped (I don't have a good enough tap and die set to do it myself), mounting surface decked, and magnafluxed. Now it's all purty.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7778.jpg

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7779.jpg

And then I started cleaning up the motor itself. Basically for 10+ years it had grime from a leaking PS pump, oil pan, pushrod inspection cover, valve cover, and pretty much everything else you can imagine. It will probably take another week to get it completely cleaned up before I put the head back on and start the reassembly process.

After a can of degreaser and some love from a wire brush the garage floor could use some cleaning now.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7777.jpg

But it's starting to look alot better.

So everything is done, rebuilt, cleaned up, etc. All that's left is to put it all together.

I had a couple hours tonight to pop off the oil pan, clean it up, and prep it for a new gasket. The bolts on the oil pan were not even finger tight, no wonder it was leaking. This is how it looked when I pulled it off.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7780.jpg

And spent a little time with the plastic razor attachment on the gasket scraper to get off most of the junk.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7784.jpg

Then cleaned it up with some degreaser. At least I didn't have to worry about it rusting.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7786.jpg

And here's where I currently sit. I will be buckling down over the next few weeks to get it all assembled and hopefully running. I am going back home on July 15th so my ultimate goal is to have it running by then. Wish me luck!

So I don't get to work on this thing everyday but when I do, I feel like I get A LOT done.

Today I started out by painting a few things. I was told the head would get surface rust after being hot tanked (I don't really know about that) but for good measure I put a couple coats of high temp paint on it.... along with my water pump, exhaust/intake manifold, and valve cover.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7793.jpg

Here's a good picture of the finish (corner of the intake manifold)

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/IMG_7797.jpg

After I got all of that cooking I started to tear in on my steering pump rebuild. Fairly straight forward but I have a few left over parts that came with the rebuild kit and I could find no place for them to go. I am doing a writeup on the rebuild process and posting it on IH8MUD.com.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7806.jpg

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7811.jpg

Put it all back together and BLING-ified it.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7817.jpg

I got my oil pan all RTV'ed and gasketed up and mounted that back on the block. Hopefully that doesn't leak again because there are 24 bolts on the pan and 5 on the bellhousing dust cover... not fun to mess with all of those bolts.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7788.jpg

After that I got the inspection cover also RTV'ed and gasketed and reinstalled it. No pics of that as it's not very exciting. :D

I also made a couple of plates for my EGR cooler blockoff and the PCV blockoff. I know blocking off the PCV isn't the best idea as it will cause acidity in the crankcase but it will still be vented. I still need to find gaskets for both of these; I thought they would've been included with the head gasket kit as you have to take BOTH of those things off to remove the head but I guess not.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7815.jpg

Here is probably the BEST mod of the day... maybe even the century. Starting to put everything back together but still waiting on a couple of parts to arrive. Mostly gaskets, intake fittings, and other miscellaneous pieces. I've never done this vast of an engine overhaul so I am excited to see how it turns out. At the same time, I'm scared that there will be numerous leaks, maladjusted belts, electrical gremlins (having fought with the PO's previous wiring rat's nest), or catastrophic failure. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Got my smog pump devaned and the air rail holes plugged up. It's essentially going to act as a pulley.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7819.jpg

Grounded my EGR wire. It is connected to the PCV/EGR assembly that comes off the side of the intake manifold. It's also plugged up now. I know this isn't ideal as moisture and acidity can build up in the crankcase without proper ventilation, but we'll see how it works out.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7822.jpg

I don't electricity in my garage right now (wiring in this house is SKETCHY!) so I had to run a LONG extension cord to finally get cutting on my blockoff plates. One is for the EGR/PCV hole and the other is for the EGR cooler hole. This is the best I could do with an angle grinder.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7823.jpg

And both of the plates installed.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserMot/_MG_7824.jpg

And here's where I am now. A lot further along but still a long way to go. Plumbing the carb for all of the newly desmogged items is not something I'm looking forward to. I'm still shooting for July 15th startup day... we'll see how that goes!

Sadly, I will not have this thing running before I go home for a week. I am still waiting on my rebuilt carb and distributor (was only supposed to be 4-5 weeks!), a water pump gasket, and silicone tubing from McMaster's. Regardless, when it arrives I should be ready to plumb all the new vacuum hoses and bolt up the shiny parts.

After almost stripping the rear most hole on the rear of the head (near the firewall), I got it back in usable condition and was able to bolt my intake/exhaust manifold back up. This is a real PITA on this truck, I literally have to stand on it and bounce it around to get the holes to line up right. Hopefully, I won't have to pull it off anytime soon.

So I'm rebuilding the knuckles and replacing the wheel bearings. I also am upgrading to 4-runner calipers and rotors in the front. I may end up using a T-100 master cylinder depending on how the brakes feel with the new schwag.

I feel like this shock probably wasn't doing much in terms of dampening... anything.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserSusp/_MG_8020.jpg

Here's an idea of how disgusting the front half of the truck is from many years of leaking knuckles, power steering, oil, mud, dirt.... and whatever else a farm truck runs through.

So I didn't get ANYTHING done today like I had planned. I have been running around, acquiring parts, at the gym, etc, etc and now I've been informed that there is an Oktoberfest festival happening downtown tonight. So, yeah, the truck can wait.

I did pick up a set of wheels and tires. (4) 17" Nissan Titan wheels wrapped with 285/70/17 BFG All Terrains. This is about a 33x11.50 so that is perfect for this truck. The wheels will be getting a little love from the machine shop as the hub does not pass through the center cap hole. I also have some 1.5" spacers to set them correctly under the wheel well.

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserSusp/_MG_8039.jpg

And all of my brake parts are here. Calipers and rotors are from a 95 4Runner and should fit with a little trimming of the backing plate. I may or may not need to upgrade to a larger volume master cylinder. We'll see how it feels.

Aside from a couple of brake hoses that had to be special ordered, the front axle is DONE! I'm glad too, I was getting tired of messing with it. Setting all the bearing preloads, fishing out cone washers, blah blah blah.

So the front axle build:

Knuckle job (bearings, seals, etc)
Inner axle seals
Wheel bearings, hub seals and races
Cleaned and painted housing
3" medium duty leaf springs
Appropriately matched shocks
Extended swaybar endlinks
New tie rod ends
Steering cleaned and painted
New coiled breather hose
4runner calipers
New FJ rotors
New rubber brake hoses (the OE ones were shot)
1.25" wheel spacers
17" alloy wheels from 2007 4Runner
285/70/17 BFG A/T (temporary)
Lots of getting dirty...see before pics. :D

I've been working on the frame and rear axle for a little bit. I'm wire wheeling and/or sanding the surface rust on every little crevace of the frame and shooting it with a rust preventative enamel. It's not cheap but it gets the job done!

Waiting for new bellcranks to come in. I had to chop everything up to "disassemble" it. As you can see below.

Yep, I'm pulling a real Chadwick on this project. :D

As for the body, I'm contemplating doing a 2-tone paint. The lower will flow with the body lines and be a sand/beige color and the upper will be similar to the original color but will be dark copper metallic (a ford color). I'm also thinking of throwing some tasteful TRD decals on the rear quarters a la new Tacoma's but we'll see how that looks when the time comes.

BigClay
11-04-2009, 02:47 PM
Coming along nicely.

Aww don't throw the TRD sticker on there, that is like people throwing Z71 stickers on old chevys, it makes me chukle because the only people that know what a Z71 is know that the owner just put that sticker on there. Yours is going to be too nice, and anyone that would know what TRD stands for will already know how much time and effort you put into the Cruiser.

JordanA
11-04-2009, 02:54 PM
I must agree with Clay, but to each his own.

Black upper, silver lower would've been my choice, most likely. The orange will look great too I bet, especially if it is like a candy burnt orange or the like.

I would just be worried that the beige and orange would blend too much.

ELLLLLIOTTTTT
11-04-2009, 03:50 PM

The updates have been pretty slow but I don't want to post pics every time I fix a little bit of rust. Currently the frame is 90% perfect, I still have to cut up the rear crossmember to fit the new rear bumper (with tire and jerry can carrier :D) so after that's done the frame will be better than new.

The rear suspension is mounted. I'm waiting on the bellcranks for the parking brake and I need to turn the rotors. Other than that, it's done. It will be exciting having a completely trustworthy drivetrain/frame/suspension on top of a crap body.... of course only temporary.

Onto the pics.

Well after thoroughly bleeding the brakes and making a few adjustments, I actually pulled the beast out of the garage. Upon first drive, it feels A TON better than those flat, worn out springs and shocks. The steering feels nice and tight, the parking brake works well, and most importantly.... it didn't blow up on the test drive! I'm hoping the shackle angle mellows out a little bit as the springs settle but we'll see, the ride quality isn't terrible but we'll see how it holds up.

Next endeavor is mounting up this SROR rear bumper I have along with fabbing the tire carrier and jerry can holder. I'm so glad I have a REAL 4x4 to drive now! Thanks for reading.

Well a complete PITA but I had to remove the u-joints from my driveshaft and orient them correctly. Having the driveshaft "in phase" is very important apparently, but the diagram in the FSM is very misleading. Swapped those out and hopefully the clicking will be gone.

Also cleaned up the combination switch on the steering column. Now my high beams and windshield washer functions work. Doing all of the little things are such a pain but makes the end product much better.

Well I am going to be a BUSY frickin' bee tying up a few little projects before the new owner takes it from me next weekend. I even skipped a weekend of snowboarding to take care of this thing! :D

I got the speakers wired up. Pioneer 5.25's, they sound great and have no interference when rolling down the windows. The CD player is also a pioneer and even has an ipod adapter. I went ahead and put the original door panels back on, which I really didn't want to do before I reupholstered them, but they cleaned up decently (but not on par with the rest of the interior).

http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a349/Puma297/CruiserBody/S5001428.jpg

I also spent some time installing the new winch bumper. It's super sweet, tucks up close to the body and mounts with six Grade 8 bolts on each side! Getting the frame brackets off was a royal PITA with the grinder but with enough swearing and hammering, they eventually saw it my way.

Bracket in question.

The other side, however, had to be difficult. I had to chop and smack on it endlessly. I'm sure my neighbors love me. You can see the carnage and the tools that were sacrificed to get it off.

Using my redneck sawhorses.

All done.

I'm pretty happy with where the tire placement.

Not as good as some of yours guys' welds, but I don't think it's going anywhere.

Shot some paint on it and should be ready to mount tomorrow after work! I can smell the end of this build.

Awesome project. I've never been a yota fan but that has a relaay cool style to it. I didnt realize how far forward the rear axle was until I saw those photos.

It looks to me like there was a gap there with the way the corners of the steel are formed.

Congrats man, the rig looks awesome. Hopefully the new owner appreciates all the work you put into it.

Honestly, there wasn't a huge gap to fill on those 2x2 pieces. This isn't my first time welding. ;)

The owner left about 2 hours ago to head back up to Cheyenne and I haven't heard from him yet, so that's a good sign!

It's worth noting that the new owner put this thing up on eBay about 4 months ago after putting 20k road/trail miles on it in under a year.
