Besides the looks, are there any problems with removing the front plastic facia and leaving it off? My ZJ is not my DD, but I do drive it on the road some.

yeah your radiator will not get the necessary directed air without some sort of bumper and your jeep will over heat

DON'T DO IT!!1

How does that plastic facia direct air flow into the radiator? It looks like the radiator would actually get more air flow with out a bumper. I tihnk I am going to put the facia back on, if nothing else so the front end doesn't look like crap.

read the post before yours. the only thing taking that piece of crap off can do is hurt your car's aerodynamics minimally. taking off the bumper will do little to solve big rubbing issues unless you trim the sides of the metal bumper thingie.

How does the plastic facia affect the airbags deploying?

...yeah that has nothing to do with the airbag sensors

thats a great writeup on removing your plastic fascia and how to not disable the airbag sensors while doing it.

Aren't the airbag sensors mounted under the center console anyways? Almost positive that's the case on the 93-95's which the OP has. Assuming his airbags still work, I know mine don't.

My 93 has the airbag sensors mounted just below the turn signal. When I cut my bumper underneath the headlights, I was afraid of bashing them off of a rock and possibly setting them off. They are now disconnected. They are still pretty well guarded as long as you haven't cut the bumper underneath the headlights..

As far as I know, my airbags still work (so far haven't needed them *knock on wood*). I haven't cut any of the metal on the front of the jeep, but the plastic facia is pretty trimmed up now. I will probably end up putting it back on unitl I finally scronge up enough $$ for a full metal bumper.

Here is anthor question, have any of you had your airbags deploy while on the trail?

Usually the airbags are disabled under a certain speed. I've come to a pretty rapid stop (hit a rock and tree root, DESTROYED two tires and one wheel) from 25-30mph and mine did not deploy.

Mine never deployed. I know they are disabled under a certain speed, but I've been having issues with some electrical shorts recently (my brake pedal can turn on my radio), so I don't really trust that functionality at this point. I have no idea if the accelerometer would be triggered by a direct hit, either. I don't feel like finding out.

That is hilarious, that could actually turn out to be a pretty neat trick to show off!:D

I would say this is definately an abrupt stop! How did the whiplash feel afterwards?

And it's about as useful as drinking water with chopsticks.

Did I mention that my rear defroster turns on, too?

Not as bad as it felt not being able to wheel my ZJ the rest of the weekend in Moab!

I remember like 5 years ago Nate Cannon had some sort of electrical issue with his brakes. I want to say when he hit the brake pedal, his rear windshield washer sprayer thingie would turn on or something similar.

I hate electrical stuff.

Dude, I use my turn signals to change the radio stations.

I drove my bro's old '91 F150 to school a few years ago, and when I'd release the parking brake, the faceplate for the stereo would pop off.

No blood when I piss, but when I take a shit - well that's a different story. Whoda thunk too much goatse causes rectal tearing? I guess my date with the goat, mule and a midget will have to wait until next weekend :(

I found that removing the front fascia cuts down on internal cabin noise

Wife: "You knocked the front bumper off again...."

Since I took it off, I haven't heard that noise once :D
