I've got some 4" C-Channel here that I'm going to use for a bumper.

What's the best way to get in there to clean up the metal for welding?
Just use a 4" grinder and go at it?

grinder and wire wheel depening on the amount of rust on it.

use a can of coke and a rag. Oh wait, that was how I clean chrome bumpers. :D

I wire wheel if the metal is cosmetic. Or a flap disk if it needs a little more to get clean. I'll use a grinding wheel if it's really tough to get clean, or if I'm in a hurry and don't care about grind marks.

flapper with 120 grit. I found 60 grit flapper works well if you need to do light grinding/rust removal.
