So if I am not bringing my Jeep do I need to register?

I will be riding along with AW and the Bling Beast.

I noticed that ya'll listed Cliff Hanger as difficult....has anyone ran it recently? I ran it last year (August maybe?) and it's not the same as it used to be. The hardest part is the very beginning (all the ledges), but the part that used to tip you towards the cliff edge has now (or was) graded because they had to get some bigger repair rigs back in there to repair a underground pipe. I'd say it's moderate at most...just letting ya'll know ;)

No, but you will need to sign AW's liability waiver. If you don't live near each other, AW should sign the waiver and send it in, then you can sign the waiver at Grand Slam West.

Let me be clear on this (because we've had problems with this in the past):

Waivers must be signed by the driver and then mailed in to complete the driver/Jeep registration. Passenger's can be added/removed AT THE EVENT.

I'll let Dave handle this one.

Cliffhanger may not be as difficult as it once was, but those ledges at the beginning can still present a substantial challenge to a smaller rig. Last year I helped Keith get everyone through the first section and the obstacle coming out of the creek definitely posed a challenge for a number of rigs. And it's not difficult in the terms of 35's and lockers are required, but more to weed out the budget boost and 31's crowd that will need a lot of attention and possibly keep the group from reaching the end of the trail before we need to turn back.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Will I need to register to get a t-shirt, I figure since I have been a sponsor the last few years I have shirts from those events, I better get one from the event I actually attend.

Dirk, you could do that if you want, or just order one under AW's.

Registration is filling up fast! 50 vehicles now registered, with 30 of them confirmed! Remember, there is a limit of 50 vehicles for the event to comply with BLM rules.

In the past we have allowed registration to continue beyond the first 50 to confirm. The first 50 to confirm are in, those that confirm thereafter are on a waiting list in the event confirmed registrants cancel. Although there is no guarantee of cancellations, in all liklihood, some will cancel for unforseen reasons.

Yeah, we get at least a 10% cancellation each year.

Yep, it seemed less then 50. I think high gas prices keep some away.

okay... quick question... how do I make a banquet dinner order? Do I have to be confirmed?

All I have to do to confirm is send in the liablitiy waiver right?

BigDaveZJ

To be confirmed, just send in your signed waiver. We're still working out details on the banquet, and as soon as we have that figured out we'll get the information out.

Nope. Sorry.

16 year olds are okay, but we don't allow anyone who's 17.

:)

Yes, bring him/her along. A legal guardian will need to sign the waiver for your sibling.

awww, i am prepared to break some stuff. Which your lucky ass gets to fix (when we get back home, i wont spoil your trip). Thats why morgan reccomened me to tow it there and back. I do run AMSoil, I chose the easiest trails possible and; plain and simple, im a pussy. So we should be fine.

Run what you're comfortable with, run what will help you learn your rig - that's all that counts.

Last year I went conservative, this year I'm going with what I'm pretty positive my Heep can do. Biggest part is...have fun.

Dave, some stuff came up last week and I wasn't able to swing by.

Last year we had about 53ish confirmed. We ended up with 48 or 49 rigs. The last couple of years we've been a rig or two shy of a full 50. And a 10% last minute cancelation is about right. But keep in mind that is still only about 5 rigs +/- so we don't normally let the confirmed get to more than 55-ish.

How will my Jeep do on the "difficult" trails having only 3" lift? I have chosen so far: friday-Gold bar rim, saturday- Hell's revenge, sunday-undecided....i want to have fun and make sure that saturday will be doable.......help from anyone whos been out there?

Sandy R
03-21-2008, 08:21 AM
Should be OK on the two you selected. Early on in the GSWs we did those trails stock or very close to it. You can bypass aka tip toe around the optional obstacles on Hell's Revenge and just watch the crazies (I mean built rigs) do the tougher stuff, like escalator.

BigDaveZJ
03-21-2008, 08:25 AM
You shouldn't have any problem at all on those trails!

fpkites
03-21-2008, 09:30 AM
Kamil, you'll be geared and Aussied by then - you'll do just fine.

ArloGuthroJeep
03-21-2008, 12:29 PM
Haha, two years ago no one even thought about doing the escalator on Hells Revenge. Pussies! OH yeah, I couldn't even walk up it:D

Hells Gate, here I come this year!

Why does that page say I have 34" tires? Hell even my daily driver doesn't have tires that small :D

Anything 35+ is all lumped into the same category to assist with trail selection.

Shouldn't be a problem, I did them on a BB and 31's and most of the obsticles have by-passes and those that don't we will work with you on spotting to get you safely across/over/thru. A lot of it is picking a good line and using momentum and a little Moab bump everynow and then.

I can't believe that we won't make it with the rest of the group this year. We've been working on the jeeps like crazy so that we'll have three of them ready for April 9th.

Yeah I'm on the fence right now if I will be able to go. I need to come up with about $500 for fuel.
