I had one of those before, but it was an 89 with the 22r (basically a carbed 22re) long box with a 5 speed.

They are good trucks (and the motors are supposed to be indestructable, although I killed 2 within a few months). They are good offroad too. I had 33's (they were worn though) fit without a lift and only a little bit of rubbing.

I don't get the point of a 2wd truck.

I had an 83 I was working on restoring, kinda wish I had the cash and time to finish it.

i understand why they make em, but i think its a BS reason. however, with this lil truck im fine with it being 2wd, because it make it that much lighter, faster, and fuel efficent.

I don't know reallly how much lighter, fuel efficient or faster it is, but being in Sacremento, I doubt you really need to worry about 4wd on a DD and something you won't wheel. Its not like up here where we get hit with snow and ice on the road, and need to way down the back end of our 2wd Trucks in the winter

that is a good point.

I don't know, I have a 2rz 4cyl out of a Tacoma 2wd in my 94 4wd Toy and I have been averaging 20mpg with mostly in town. My friend has a 2wd Tacoma with the same engine and he averages 26mpg and gets a solid 30mpg on the highway. They both are dds and he gets around just fine with the studs on in the winter. I think 2wd trucks have there place but they're not for everyone.

i did some work on the truck the other day, beefed up the leaf springs for when we haul mu buddys quad, so to compensate for the lift we put in the super ghetto 4"lowering blocks...should look ok once i level the front down and get the hood fixed and painted.

pics soon.

I hope it's just the angle of the pic, but it looks like the u bolt plates hang below the edge of the rims... would be very interesting if you get a flat...

Now that's a beater.

01-10-2008, 11:41 PM
i dont.....well...mabe i do...but i am commited to spend as little money as possibe on this thing, and with the big leafs the stock shocks arnt long enough...

an the springs get about .5" of up dravel while driving...so i dont think shocks will make any difference.

I'd take those blocks out of there a 2wd truck is suppost to sit high in the rear.

5.9 ANDY
01-11-2008, 12:02 AM
yea...but not sit high by like 5 inches.

besides...we are gona do a T-twist this weekend and lower the front.

IndyZJ

you might want to consider a 3" block and taking one of the bottom springs (not the overloads) out of each pack... beaters are cool, but you've gotta keep it safe. not tryin to rag on you but i had blocks like that (u bolts below the edge of the rim) on an s-10 blazer and let's just say it's a good thing no other cars were around when a tire blew out and a u bolt caught a pot hole;)

i almost puked when i saw that picture dude...why would you wanna drive something with the leaf like 2 inches from the ground? wtf?! that defeats the purpose of it being a truck doesnt it? i mean were going for ground clearance so we can haul shit and not hit other shit. bahhh idk
IMO : thats rediculous but i guess...when in rome.

01-11-2008, 10:22 PM
i understand what your saying suburbia, but with a lil truck like this that will never leave the pavemnt...im not that worried about clearence.

as far as the u-bolt plate sticking below the rim...i was thinking about getting some stock ZJ wheels to put on there.

tywilson88
01-12-2008, 09:28 PM

you could level the truck with out putting a 3 inch block on it to lower it.

5.9 ANDY
01-12-2008, 09:35 PM
cuz then i would have to spend another $50 on the truck that could be put to the jeep.

SuicideTireZJ

Lift the front way up prerunner style and forget those ghetto ass blocks out back. That's all a 2wd truck is good for anyway
