Hello, I'm new over here since I have been wheeling a TJ for the last 4 years I spend most of my time on TJ type fourms until now. Since I use my rig as a DD as well as trail rig, I decided to change directions and get something with a little more luxury for the commute.

I am stripping the TJ back down to stock before selling it and re-using as much as I can on the ZJ.

Here is the new ride, 98 Limited, 5.2 with 86000 miles.

As it sat when I bought it last weekend.

I have a wraparound bumper/winch combo that can be adapted to the GC along with a 231 Tcase with a SYE and 2Low shift fork that will be going in later along with a lunchbox locker for the front.

I will probably go ahead and build some rockers and add an engine skid next.

I'm not sure what to do for a rear bumper yet, but something will come up I'm sure.

I have only had the rig a week, but so far I really am enjoying it.

Is it just me or is your '98 5.9 a little different than most others. The hood doesn't have louevers(sp?), not the 5 star wheels, exhaust tip...

Still looks good either way. nice rig

I agree... not a niner, sure its got one under the hood ?

Missing:

Hood Louvers
Lower Cladding, tapers at front and rear niner style
Wheels
Stainless Exhaust Tip

Hmmmm

I knew there was something else...

Oh and the Roof rack is not from the 5.9, yes there is a difference.

Wonder does it have a sound bar ?

that light only came in the 1998.9 versions. Although they did use the special fluid for all 5.9 models.

His sig says 5.2, so maybe he has a 5.9.2L?

Yep, typo there it is a 5.2. I would really have been excited if I had found a 5.9 with that many miles!

Most of the 5.9s I found were either 1000 miles away or had over 120k miles.

It may have been wishfull thinking, I know I did look for the 5.9 for a while but settled for this one.

(Could be old age setting in also, why do you think I'm switching from a TJ to a luxury ride.)

We need to get a group of Grands together and go to Gilmer or maybe the park down around College Station after the holidays. All of the guys I normally run with have Wranglers and I would like to see the GCs on the trails to help figure out the different style needed for them.

Yeah come out to BVORR in College Station, I live about 5 mins from it and helped make some of the trials out there.

A trip to Gilmer (or even Katemcy, Tree's Ranch, Spring Creek) would be nice, been wanting to check some of those places out for a quite a while.

Gilmer is good for all types of rigs, but the red dirt is a pain. Katemcy and Trees are pretty heavy duty parks, lockers and skid protection is almost a must for them. I have not done Spring Creek but a lot of the guys from Houston that I have run with for a couple of years go there 1-2 times per month. I have not done BVORR either, I understood that you had to have a club connection to go there so maybe we could setup a run there in early 2008.

I have done Gilmer many times so if you guys want to go there just let me know and I can lead if no one else knows the park.

Yeah the owner of the ranch prefers club runs, but if you can get a small group together it would be fine as long as you call ahead of time. I'm in 3 local clubs so if you went with me or Rico (ohtenwillys) we could easily get you in.

As for a run in early 2008, me and a buddy are planning on getting a group together and going sometime late Jan early Feb.
