What's everyone's recommendation on a muffler for the 5.2L?

Want something with a 3" in and out that will have a nice sound to it. I'm thinking Spintech, maybe Magnaflow.

I'm running a Flowmaster 50 (3" pipe) with a turndown. I like it, it has a nice tone to it.

I've got the Magnaflow, beaten the piss out of it for over 6 years and the case is still holding up great. It's a little loud, but I've got the 14" case, Pam runs the 16" and it's a bit quieter.

I run the 16" Magnaflow and i think it has perfect sound. Gives a little rumble for the v8 but it is not stupid loud.

I run a 5x8x18 body magnaflow and a hi flow cat on my 4.7 WJ, i'm very happy with it. No drone on the highway, and loud enough to let you know its there.

Magnaflow or Hooker Aerochamber for me.

Anyone got a clip of their Magnaflow?

I found the one I had on the 4.0L had a nice drone on the hwy and that pissed me off.
From what I've heard of the Spintech (on Mustangs) it's got a pretty nice sound and no drone like other chambered mufflers (Flowmaster).

no clip. But i've had a magnaflow (w/ carsound cat) on my jeep (its a 4.7, not a 5.2 though) before very smooth, not too loud. I currently have a hooker aerochamber (w/ carsound cat). Both are very similar but currently the aerochamber seems to be a little quieter still. However, ptowntsi used to have an aerochamber, straight piped on a 5.9 and it sounded fierce. Look into the hooker muffler too.

Another vote for the Magnaflow. I have had a couple of them, and I love them. The bigger the case, the quieter they get. I forget which size I have now, but it's actually a little loud for my taste. I had a huge one, which barely fit the ZJ, and it was perfect...couldn't really hear it at all until you really got on it, then it had a nice rumble to it, and that's my preference.

Whatever is cheap. I drag mine over shit all the time. I have a magnaflow 14" like big dave. I only bought it because it was what they had at the shop that would fit after I went longarms. It is still in one piece.

Ya it's a 4.7 but I really like my Super40 series flowmaster. I had a magnaflow on it for awhile but it just didn't have enough sound for me. The Super is deeper and less metally than the magnaflow was. I prefer to sound like a truck than a mustang....

i put a flowmaster super44 on mine... loud, has minimal interior resinance, but sounds really good w/ headers and a high flow cat. and i beat the shit out of it on the rocks and i have had no problems

Let me know how the spintech sounds. I'm looking for something quieter than the dynomax bullet I have now.

Those sounded like crap IMO, I have just cut the muffler out of my jeep and had the local exhaust guy weld it in for 15 bucks... Sounds a lot better. Although I am running stock everything as far as the exhaust goes

I'll be running a Pro Street which is one of the louder mufflers but I will post a sound clip.

Do you guys have the dimensions of the mufflers you are running? I need a muffler and want to eventually go with Clayton's. It'd be nice to be able to reuse the muffler I buy if I ever actually get to running long arms.

Muffler isn't as much an issue as the tail pipe.

Pfft!

If my Jeep sounded like that I'd be breaking alot more parts I think!

It's possible to post pics using something like photobucket...as soon as you quit reviving old threads. :shake:

magnaflow is good for power and perfomance, its gives a sound over stock like any other muffler would. its a nice tone and id say go for it if you wanna get the most outta a muffler. if your for sound and want a little more power try a single chamber muffler. either way its what you want. i have a single chamber on my ZJ and i love it. i have a 14" magnaflow on my bimmer 540i and i love it too because it fits that euro sound. the choices are endless.

I got a flowmaster 40 series on my 5.2, just cut of the old muffler and welded it on, and welded on a turndown tip. Its just a flowmaster that I bought at auto zone for a little over $80. OMG this thing sounds awsome!!!

Also got a FM 40 on my 4.0 but thats a different story;)

Anyone knows the size of a replacement magnaflow Muffler for a 2004 4.7 WJ?

I just want to replace the Muffler and keep the tubes.

Thanks

ive got a hooker aero chamber on mine. has a real good sound and is a little cheaper than most of the performance mufflers. i think it was 45$.
