Still out here, kickass time. We ran Chicken Corners and part of Cliffhanger (just to piss Cody off :flipoff2: ) on Friday, did Spike on Saturday and we were off by 6PM!! We did part of Tower Arch and then Klondike Bluffs today. AWESOME time, minimal carnage. Pics and more stories to follow, time to go eat and drink some beer.

"minimal carnage" but maximum impact, for poor Will.

He needs to answer his damned phone! Any news from him?

(Will brought his WK, did a fantastic job on Spike, but somewhere along the way he tagged the u joint on his rear driveshaft. Will babied the WK off the trail, Dave trailered it to Moab, but due to all the integrated electronic wizardry of a WK, you can't just drive the WK without a rear drive shaft. Note to self - carry a spare driveshaft on the new WK)

Nice! You guys managed to do a trail you haven't seen before! How amazing ;)

Now only 50,000 more miles of trail to explore!

We couldn't find anything in the Well's book that we wanted to do - we needed you to show us the undocumented trails!

Hopefully Pam or someone got a good picture of my nose dive in the crack as I'm courios as to how high the rear was in the air. Maybe not that much, but in the driver's seat it is hard to tell. Now to find time in November to finish up the axle builds and get those 33's on, a rear locker, and a little more lift (maybe).

Back in Co Springs.

They did not have the rear shaft (GJ) in stock so limped home but made it!!!

Asked service if they could install it if I ordered it. "Have to schedule and can not get you in till next week." Thanks alot Jeep stealerships!!!!

Home safe and will get a new shaft and looks like it will run $260 which I thought they would ream me more.

Had a great time and just wanted to give an update that I am back safe.

Thanks for the trip,
Will

Sunday we started from inside Arches National Park. We ran Tower Arch and hiked to the arch. Four Wheel Drive Road was closed so we double backed and ran Klondike Bluffs out to Highway 191. Both were fun trails with some stretches of red sand to drive on, slick rock, dinosaur tracks and a few good obstacles. Much nicer trails then Chicken Corners, which my son renamed to Chicken Poop.

Edit: Well, I just noticed Dave already gave the Sunday update. :)

MVP (Most Valuable Pucker) goes to Josh!!!!

I was behind him and watching him run it on a short wheel base and maiden voyage, u are the man!!!.

I think if there was a safe ejector seat for Nicole she would of used it ;) .

Hats off Josh!!!

Tip for those that want a mallcrawlin sticker: If you wheel with Dave and he rescues u, you get 1 for free. Body damage you get the big sticker:smt109 .

John makes it look so easy ;)

You guys have a drive shaft shop that I can send my old shaft to so I can repair it for use as a spare? need to get it rebalanced and new u joint installed.

Thanks again for the trip.

Forgot to mention that it was my birthday trip. 9/30 was my birthday.
You guys gave me a great birthday trip:smt066

Like pictures take away the real perspective, the video makes it look way easier than what reality was, or what it seemed watching it in real life. I really got nervous when John's WJ started moving across the face side hill style.

Will, I'm glad that it was a good birthday weekend, broken u-jiont/driveshaft and all. It is cool that you were able to make it back to CSprings OK. Can you build the old DS and make it a spare, especially before GSSW?

Moab/The Spike are such cool places to go and play, even if it was just for a day on my part. Always happy to wheel with a great bunch of enthusists(sp). My last trip on the Spike until I get the 33's on though and the rear locker installed.

Have to give a special thanks to Ferris at Clark's Auto Parts in moab.

He let me use all of his tools to get the DS back to a drivable state.

I did not drive back with the bailing wire and duct tape on the shaft  . Spent all morning sun working on it at Clark's. He let me use the vise he had in the back of the store along with other tools.

Can't believe they put a Checker Auto right next door!! Just for that I will never buy anything from Checker Auto.

Ever in moab and need parts, go to Clark's Auto Parts and talk to Ferris.

Happy birthday Will. Sometimes you have to use Checker - they were the only shop in Moab that had a brake master cylinder for my ZJ.

Regarding drive shaft shops, I'm sure there are one or two in the Springs, but if you want to come to Denver, I've used Englewood Driveshaft. Kinda hard to find (entrance is via an alley), but they know their stuff (old school stuff, anyway).

Hey, could you do me a favor? Justforjeeps.com said they could get me a spare drive shaft, but they need a VIN. My Jeep was built Tuesday and Wednesday of this week (yeah, no Monday or Friday build:)), but I don't have the VIN yet. Could you email them (support@justforjeeps.com) with your VIN and ask for a price for a rear driveshaft?

That's funny, I don't even remember it. At first I was thinking that you bumped my ZJ and I didn't remember that either.

John, my brother muled four 33x10.5" MTs over the mountains for me so now I have four tires vs. two to work with for fitting on my ZJ, so next time it won't be such a wheel lift if you spot me on the 33" line and it should eleminate the getting hung up on the ledge.
