I ride my bike most of the year up here in New England, but the snow and rain put a damper on a lot of my riding. So thats why I have my ZJ.

It started as a 95 Limited, 318.

Here's what it looked like for a while, I worked for an aftermarket wheel company for a lil while, hence the blings. (it's back on stockers now)

Now I've got a 5.9 rebuilt, bored .30 over. and an NV3500 5 speed, with a 231J, and an SYE.

My speedo still doesn't work yet, as I believe the stock 249 speed sensor might be too short to reach the drive gear in the 231's SYE housing. So I'm going to try and figure out what speed sensor I need to replace that. Also, I need to make up a T Case shifter as the stock one is just no where close to fitting now. I was thinking about the Novak universal kit, but I'm not sure its going to clear the NV3500 case.

My first gear is a bit low, its borderline useless as I can start off in 2nd gear on a steep hill with no problems, so I'm thinking about changing out the rears to something taller perhaps. Other then that, not sure what I'm going to do to it next.

Ummmmm... Lift it? Bigger tires? Use it for off-road use? Something this site is dedicated to...

Nah...put the old rims back on and bag it so you can drop it on the frame when it's parked. Better yet...drop just the ass down when you're on the interstate so you'll have sparks flying out the back. LMAO :)

get a 2" lift, put on some 31" tires and youll be golden on the gearing.

I was thinking that too, do you know what the stock ratio is for the rears, I wanna try and figure what my RPM's would be as per tire size.

Dude, you have no idea! the shifter is an awesome spot, its right be the steering wheel where it should be. :D

It's a weak burnout, but they're new tires...

As far as all the hating on the blings, like i said, they were on there cause I worked for a wheel company, I do wheel my ZJ a bit. Before this is i had a 65' CJ5 with the buick V6 on 33's ;)

A 5.9 and a manual is nice.
The rims make baby jesus cry though.

The swap took a while, with a couple attempts. It wasn't a direct bolt in by any means.

Depending on your engine and the pilot bushing you have, you may need to have the crank machined to fit the pilot bushing as they're all not ready to accept them.

The drivetrain is from a 2000 Dakota V6, the NV3500's have an integrated bellhousing, which mates to the V8 but the starter ends up on the wrong side, so you'll have to weld in a new one on the proper side (Domination Chassis did mine, so they good to it pretty easy for you (http://www.dominationchassis.com)) If you used an NV3550, it has a detachable bellhousing but I don't know of a bell with a starter on the correct side, so you may have to do more research or weld in a new one going that route.

The transfer case still from the Dakota is the 231, it uses a 231D? I believe, and i think the regular Jeep one is the 231J? or something like that. The tail shaft doesn't have a hole for the speed sensor, but by using an SYE kit you can fit that. Advanced adapters doesn't list a specific application for that case, but the regular Jeep 231 they list worked fine for me. I called and told them it works fine so they can list it as an application, so they might have it listed as an application now though.

The stock transfer case shifter doesn't work with this application, and I'm not sure the universal one from Novak will either, I think I'm going to attempt to make my own. Also, you'll probally want to make a custom cross member as the transfer case yoke sits right ontop of it since the MTX is shorter. Mine just has an adapter plate for now.

You're going to need a new CPS as the stock one is at the wrong height for the flywheel vs. the flexplate.

The pedals are modified XJ pedals.

Also, I'm not quite sure this has to do with the manual swap of the 5.9 conversion, but the idle was all messed up with my Jeep, it kept wanting to idle at 200rpm, then it would eventually stall out. So we adjusted the non adjustable idle set screw so now it idles around 600rpm.

I'm sure there are some other small things I'm forgetting, but thats the bulk of it.

Got the speedo working, just had to clock the sensor differently. It seems pretty accurate to, so I think the plastic gear that came with the SYE is pretty close to what I had stock.

Also, I put in a neutral safety switch today, I'm not sure if its giving me the power I'm missing (it dyno'd at 175hp wtf?), but I think it did make the power delivery a bit smoother now that it thinks its in gear.
