If you think it makes a difference now, wait til you get the 4" pipe on...

Depends on the intake, and the truck.

And the DP Tuner . . . .

I think the DP Tuner is next on the list, then the 4" pipes.

Depends on the intake, and the truck.

Exactly. On a 6.0? No point in doing it. But on a 7.3 it'll make a difference in power AND lower my EGT's a considerable amount.

Have you ever seen the factory air filter housing on a 6 point slow? Very restrictive...

Don't claim to be an expert on the 6.0's (or even the 7.3's for that matter) but from the little bit I've read about them it seems as if the aftermarket intakes don't offer nearly the improvements that you get on the 7.3.

That's a shatload of money for an intake, it damn well better make 50 horse!

Everything's a shitload of money on these trucks.

Got the intake installed tonight, nice and simple install. Definitely notice some quicker throttle response, and the truck definitely pulls harder. Pulling over Vail and Eisenhower on Thursday, so that should give me a good idea if it had any effect on EGT's and also put the power increase to the test.

Get that tuner. We put the same intake on my dads F250 and the tuner from DP. He got 3 mpg better on the way back to NY with the 80hp econo tune!! That pays for it pretty quick. Plus 80 more ponies were nice to drive!

The DP is definitely in the works, but I'm also getting some pretty good turbo surge so I'll probably be getting the ATS ported housing soon as well.

in the spirit of bringing threads back from the dead, how do you like this intake?

I have an '02 excursion and am thinking of doing air intake and getting the edge evolution programmer, supposedly the best one for the 7.3... thoughts?

would you still do this intake?

and pardon my newbness but WTF is turbo surge?

itswhen the boost surges beyond its set point and then calms down ... does it randomly , dsm cars used to have bad problems with this

BigDaveZJ

If you can get the Edge with either Jody or Tony Wildman's tunes on there, go for it. Their tunes are the best out there.

Love the intake, would definitely do it again.

And the turbo surge is anything but random, it was actually very predictable, especially after I added the DP Tuner. Put a Wicked Wheel (better designed compressor wheel) a couple weeks ago though and the surge is gone.

Where are you at HP and Torque and mileage #'s now with the upgrades? I've been pumping some money in the Dodge as well. The truck is getting 21MPG back and forth to work right now. I will be taking it to the Dyno next week for emissions so I will get numbers on mine. I'm hoping for about 400HP and 850lbs of Torque. After I get the emissions I have a set of 100HP over stock injectors going in and a water meth kit. It gets very addicting, I'm not sure when I will stop.

I don't think I'm that high, probably just under 300hp, maybe 650ish lbs of torque. I just wanted a little more power than the truck had stock, make it a nice reliable tow rig.

I wonder if that intake would be much better than what I put on.

3rd gen?

NO, 2nd Gen.

3406

It has a K&N intake, 4" exhaust, Air Dog Fuel system, Jacobs exhaust brake and the Edge Juice with attitude. Getting ready to add 100HP injectors and water meth injection.

I thought you had a 1st gen??

I bet your are sitting around 280-300hp, 650-700 ft/lbs torque. (rear wheel #s), but post up the #s.

My CTD has a Smarty, TST and RV275 injectors and only puts out 275hp to give you an idea. I dunno if you are calling the RV injectors 100hp (some people do) but they are only good for about 40hp.

I bought a new truck because the loads that I was hauling and the cab room was a little small in the first Gen.

I was just comparing it to my buddies CTD as far as the power goes and he is laying down 550HP but he is running twins and a bunch of other stuff. It will be interesting to see what my truck is actually doing. I am thinking after throwing in the injectors that I would stack it with a Smarty, depends on EGTs. Then the plan is to get a Super B special.

The injectors are BD 100HP. They use the RV body and custom nossles.

Nate you were pretty close. I took my truck to the dyno today. On level 1 it passed emissions and ran 256 HP at 570 ft. lbs of torque. I set it up to level 5 and tried again. This time I was at 329 HP and 788 ft. lbs of torque. This was with the stock injectors, I'll put the 100 HP injectors on and try it again in the next week or so.
