Got some literature about them at work the other day as well as a DVD showing them in action... they look to be pretty solid. From my understanding it appears to be the krawler with precut sipes on the old MT carcass - which should make one bad ass street/offroad tire.

Here's a few pics for those of you who haven't seen it yet:

July 20, 2007
Michelin North America Inc. introduced two new BFGoodrich brand tires this week during a ride-and-drive event near Salt Lake City, Utah: the BFG g-Force Super Sport A/S ultra-high performance passenger tire and the BFG Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 light truck tire.
The g-Force Super Sport A/S will be available in 29 sizes this October, ranging from 15 inches to 20 inches in diameter.
The tire contains three compounds — one for dry handling, one for wet handling and one for snow handling — under the BFG brand’s Multi-Grip Tread Technology banner. The compounds “are positioned side-by-side across the gripping surface of the tire,” say Michelin officials.
The BFG Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 light truck tire is designed for rock climbing and other rugged applications. Sizes will be rolled out in two phases, the first starting this September and the second starting in September 2008.
The tire contains BFG’s Krawler TEK technology that consists of agressive sidewall lugs, cut- and chip-resistant sidewall compounds and sidewall cords “that are up to 33% stronger than the previous Mud-Terrain T/A KM tire. These advancements allow for more bite and sidewall protection, along with increased strength and resistance to bruising caused by rocks and rough trails.”

yeah you pretty much need to have a 17 inch wheel for alot of the tires these days, its hard for me to try and make up my mind if i want to go 17s or not...

as far as the tires i wonder how the perform in the snow (me being canadian and 80% of the country is covered in snow 90% of the time)

Agreed, but a lot of people running aggressive tires, or at least those who wheel run 15" wheels if they can.

i'd like to see the UTQC ratings.. see how much harder than the krawler they are. I bet they sing like a sonofabitch on the road:D

x2. If they are as hard of compound as the current KMs, they won't be nearly as good. Personally I would rather see a little softer tire that only lasts 30-35k but grips a lot better.

17's are the new 15's

I wish I would have gotten 17's when I get new rims vs. 16's

IDK, I can't say I really back you up on that unless you are running at least 35s.

I would run 34's if I had 17's 305/70/17... no such size for 16's

That JK is pretty amazing. They put the entire chassis of a Dodge diesel pickup underneath. I guess they couldn't figure out how to get around the electronic nannies of the JK as they needed to put axles strong enough for some pretty big meats. Not much JK left in that JK.

It defines the term, "built not bought."

In this months issue of 4W&OR, it sounded like one thing led to another. They wanted to be original and put in a diesel. To put in a diesel they needed to have a stronger setup to take the power. The entire chasis was the logical choice. I like that they were being innovative. It doesn't say much about the axle of choice in the article but what's on there would make sense. They are covering a lot of ground in one fell swoop with the shortened chassis.

Thanks for sneak peak of the UAJK.

295/75/16 I have only seen BFG ATs in that size. 325/70, never seen any tire in that size.

What I'd really like is a tire size of 265/65-17 - I think that would be a perfect tire size on my WK with the AEV rims. There's a few out there now, but none that I'd want to buy.

Only thing I could find on prices of the BFG MT KM2 is that the MSRP starts at $399/tire. Part of the back-end of TireRack's website has the KM2 in it, but it's not yet viewable to the public. At those kind of prices, I don't regret getting what I got.

If prices START at $399 that's an easy way to push towards the Krawlers or put Creepies on there.

Shit, krawlers don't even cost that much. 4wheelparts has them for around $380 for 37s

canadian_driver
08-14-2007, 12:27 PM
to be fair, the $399 that tire rack has listed was for a 335/55QR22 size tire, which is for a 22 inch rim, so yes mega expensive, and if you looked on thier website at the start of the year, the price was $489 per tire, so i think as these tires get closer to the release date and we start seeing actual prices they should be more inline with other tire companies

325/70-16=33.9x12.8/16Yeah, I guess I was a little off on the 295 but the 325 is sooooo close(but read on). I wasnt using the metric tire conversion chart, I got that info from an ad awhile back. My stupidity was believing it and passing it on.

So my original post was absolutely useless and I apologize for wasting your time. +2

Basically the reason why BFG isn't releasing the more common 15" tire sizes in this new MT is because they feel that in the market right now there is a higher demand for other rim sizes...being 17" and bigger. I can vouch for this because i have worked for discount tire co for over a year and i sell a lot more "over sized" tires to customers that have pavement princesses. Many those that have lifted there fords or chevys. They will be releasing the more popular sizes in september of 2008. This tire though is definately on that will be worth the wait if the first release doesn't include a size for you.

Or the simply want the 15s and 16s in the old mud terrain to dry up before they sell off the new stuff?
