I use led flashlights and love them... I was wondering if LED shop/spot lights are available for a decent price and if anybody uses them. I just got done working on my zj for 8 hours straight and the halogen lamps i'm using gave me a mild first degree burn on both arms. Nothing serious but it is annoying:D

Especially having all that extra heat here in da souf.

I use them and will never go back. They last 5x longer also.

I tried one and didn't like it - I didn't think it put out enough light and it seemed too directional. I'm back to using a 26 watt dual fluorescent work light. It doesn't get hot and the bulbs are cheap (although I've never had to replace one).

The one I tried was a Craftsman 73945. My dual fluorescent is a Craftsman Professional 3473917, but I don't think it's available anymore. I was considering getting the 52 watt quad fluorescent 83897 work light too.

I just got one,it seems ok but the light out put is not the same as my shop light I was using. The good thing I noticed was it dosn't melt any thing in it's direct path when it's close to car parts.

I was thinking about getting one of those LED ones but now I think I'll pass, I usually use a droplight with one of those spiral twist flourecent bulbs, but I have not replaced the bulb in it......FYI they don't like to be near a welder in action:D

How bout those craftsmen safety goggles with the LED's built in? They seem sweet since they point the light exactly where you're looking.

Have you seen the craftsmen gloves that have the led in them also?

I have mechanix gloves with an LED.. it isn't that cool. How many times are you actually able to point a finger at something you need to see and actually not have the light blocked by something. Also as soon as you grab something (a ratchet, for example) you move the light and thus the gloves are useless. I've used LED flashlights that are built in to like a pen shape, those are much more usefull.

The pens also fit nicely in my mouth.
