So is anyone planning on going to Big dogs in Sept?

I know that Shadow, Beerman, myself and probably Bruce will be there. Not that it's horrible to post this in Chit Chat but the GSE forum generally pulls a lot of responses from the "east siders". :)

So are we to assume you're planing on coming out?

Me and my girl will be there. we'll be running some easy stuff fri like 6's then well take my rig out on sat and run 8's with a bunch of people i know that will be getting their fri night. What trails are you all thinking about running.

Last time I went I ran the trails with bruce. I don't know what numbers they were. I don't want to run anything really hard or that causes damage because I have an 8 hr drive back

Just go slow and listen to your spotter :best:

I just don't have the finances or I'd love to go.

Last time I was in the GSE group with bruce. What would the group/s be now like if i so jeeps aren't built enough for the harder trails?

BLK...I probably suggest that you run 4's. Bruce ran ya'll on 3's and 4's mostly at GSE. Maybe a couple of 5's...didn't hear everything ya'll ran at GSE but that's generally what he runs.

Depends on who I'm up there with what I will run. I haven't run above 7's before up there. Honestly I don't really care what I run as long as I'm in the jeep out having some fun with good friends. It's all a good time no matter what! I think 7's are a ton of fun b/c they're a bit challenging in spots and you can generally pick a harder line if you like. And generally you don't have tons of carnage. Then again...this is me your talking to...I'll find a way to break something if I can :) .

Nierace gave the best advise...listen to your spotter (just make sure he's a good one). I'll add...don't wheel above your abilities and knowledge. You can always step up a notch later in the day or the next day but once you're on a trail...you're on it! Don't line up for a 8 if you don't know what's in store for you and fuck both your day/weekend and everyone else's in the group.

BLK IMO you should be able to run a 7 without problemsif your locked on one axle and have a good group of guys that can spot you. They are difficult trails so if your not a fan of body damage/bent tie rods you may want to go a little easier.

I'll tell you what its a big difference in difficulty between 7and 8. 7s you can get away with 33's and 1 locker no prob. Just pick your lines and you'll be fine. 8's can be done on 33's and 1 locker but expect a rough day. I did it on 33s and welded d35 rear but i now have a few new dents to prove it. I would stick to 35s or better to have a good day on 8s.

MoonWorks

I would think 8's would be REAL tough with 1 locker and 33's. If I'm not mistaken, big dogs actually recommends 2 lockers and 35's min to run them...of course you can do what you want :) . But most of the 7's and a few 6's have bypasses and plenty of different lines you can take so you can make the trail as hard or "easy" as you want.

Slim...when was the last time you were at Bigdogs? I don't remember ever meeting you before.

This year I made aprils run with my rig. I was green zj running through the mud pit. right before my buddy rolled his white yj in the mud pit. Also I was down for junes run but was doing the shotgun thing due to some tranny probs. Do you have that white zj? Thats the only zj I remember seeing that was on 35's.

Wow...I hadn't seen that morning after shot! My pick of him in the mud pit looks just about the same...on his side with someone crawling out the passenger window.

I think I remember seeing you leaving that night but I didn't get down to the pit until late so I didn't see you run. And yes...the white ZJ you saw was mine! :)

What trail are you calling the "extreme" trail? Looks like corum but I could be way off.

Yeah, I'm in. If your buddy in the xterra is coming try and pull him down a couple of inches by then. Looks good but seems a litle top heavy. We're already that way and he's taller than us.

Iv tried to get him to take his body lift off..he wont..this is actually going to be his first time wheeling. We are going to try to run the same trail I ran last time..What was it..a 5 or a 6? It was one above yours I believe (because of your gear breaking in ) and that trail was fun and was not tipsy, so I think he will be fine there.
Can't wait to see your rig again matt.

I thought friday was just a day for rolling in and camping?

MoonWorks
08-29-2007, 03:48 PM
June and Sept are bigdogs "big" events. They are both friday, sat, and sunday runs. The other events through the year (2 others) are only sat and sunday runs. So plan to get there thursday night.

I don't remember what Shadow and I ran. I think we ran a 4 on saturday and a 6 on sunday if I'm not mistaken. In June we ran 6 and 7s the whole weekend.

His lack of experience wheelin will hurt him more than his height. Once he learns...his height will kill him. Body lifts are dumb...they don't do crap functionally. Just make you higher w/out extra ground clearance. Let him run what he wants. Just tell him to ask for a spotter and LISTEN to them. Get him prepaired for body damage as well. I have a feeling that he'll get a bit!

zj95maxx
08-29-2007, 04:40 PM
Body damage isnt a concern to him, he has another car to drive, but we will be driving up there. And because of school. We will not be able to roll into camp untill friday at around 5 or 6 I would say.

I guess we will figure out what trails we are running when we get there.

does anyone know if you're required to pre-register for this event? I'd like to take the 5.9 out for it's maiden voyage, but I'm not 100% certain on this.

No you do not.

When icebreakers was going on, we were lining up to wheel and you had to go get your stickers and tell them your name. People were signing up/registering at that point.

I have ran with a few of them before at different places but not on the regular trail runs.

Did a shake down at RC with the new set up today and everything is looking real good for big dogs run.

who will be running 6 trails on fri?

MoonWorks

Looks good slim. Does look like you'd get some massive rubbin of the fenders at full lock though...true?

Matt96...as maxx already said...you don't have to preregister. If you aren't sure if you're going to run than I wouldn't. But if you're sure then take the couple of mins to do it. Then you'll be sure that they won't fill up (of which I've never seen happen).

I just got off my butt and registered. :)

slim616

At full lock and flexed the 36's just rub, though not enough to cut the tires. I trimmed all the metal in the wheel well so they would just clear. This way once the new tires get worn down a little they shouldn't have any issues.
