Tentative date for now, still need to get the ZJ out there and make sure everything I'm doing to it is going to work the way I want it.

BUT the plan would be to head up there Saturday night, camp, drink beer, hang out, and then hit the trail Sunday morning. You can come up and camp with us, or meet us up there in the morning if you want, but I had hoped to be on the trail by 9 to avoid too much other traffic so it would be a rather early start from Denver.

We would be leaving from the store at Park Meadows right at 6, or a little earlier if I can get out of work sooner.

And if the 29th isn't a good weekend, we can definitely look at some other weekends as it may end up not working for us either depending on various events over the next couple weeks.

I am planning on going. We will most likely arrive in the AM on the 29th as our guest from Spain leaves on the 28th if my memory is correct.

I will keep you posted.

Sounds good. I would do a morning arrival too.

Wheeler next week? Gotta get your t-case fixed.

BigDaveZJ

T-case is already fixed, just working on making the tires fit now!

We are in for Wheeler next week too.

How about something this Sunday??

Maybe BML?

Otherwise maybe we will go fishing this Sunday.

If going to BML, bring lots of bug spray...clouds of skeeters last Saturday. Trail's open all the way there though, tiny bit of snow at the last spot before the lake. Conditions were muddy, but gripped like claws on it. No spinning at all, even the TJ on 31" BFG ATs.

I'd love to go, but I'm in training for a 500 mile bike trip across Iowa the end of July, so I'm out of 4 wheeling until August.

Shorter driveshaft too? I bet you enjoy making room....cut cut cut....:D

This Sunday, BML or RedCone (if it's open) or....I would be up for something.

We're probably out this Sunday. if we are still here, we'll be adjusting the long arms to fit the tires and tweaking the rest.

So how's 8/5 work for everyone??? Found even more crap under the ZJ tonight. The seal between the t-case and tranny is leaking, something is up with the front diff. And I still need to mess with making the tires fit and coming up with a t-case skid.

At least I got the rear shocks off without splitting my thumbnail into two pieces again!

Ragbrey (sp)?

RAGBRAI - Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa. People have told me its just a big party, but 60-80 miles a day will be a bit of a challenge for me.

I dont think Red Cone will be open but maybe St Johns is. I say BML or maybe even Kingston-Loch Lohman for a scenic run. BML is still high on my list.

Dave and Pam so if there is more wrong with Dave's ZJ and we are pushing Holy Cross to the 5th whats on the 29th? Anyway sorry to hear there is more wrong. I guess your going to have to give Pam's Jeep a work out for a few weekends. You should run something this weekend while you wait for parts.

I can't go August 5th. I can make it July 25th or August 12th.
Edit: July 29th, not July 25th. :)

Unfortunately we really don't have time to do anything this weekend. There is a strong chance that we will be driving to MN tomorrow, and if not tomorrow sometime in the next week-ish. My grandma hasn't been doing so well lately (c'mon, she's only 90!) so we're anticipating that we'll be heading back here sometime soon.

And John, 7/25 is a Wednesday?? 8/12 could work for us too. If we're back from MN in time we planned on taking Pam's ZJ on the Wheeler Lake run, but even that is up in the air right now.

It shouldn't take me too much time to get mine back together as long as there isn't something major wrong with the front diff. When you turn the yoke you can feel something almost catch, then let loose, and then you get full contact with the gears. I guess worst comes to worst I could always steal Pam's 30 since I'm still running 3.73's. :bling:

I meant Sunday 7/29 :D. I'm out for tomorrow as well. Too much stuff around the house to do.
Dave, just sneak Pam's D30 under your Jeep. She won't notice.

I'm in for Sunday 7/15 (Wheeler Lake). Either 7/29 or 8/12 for Holy Cross.

Mtn WJ
07-07-2007, 01:20 PM
I should be in for either date to run Holy Cross. I definately want to run it this year. Never ran HC before.
I am also good for Wheeler on the 15th.

I am still going tommorrow. I will re-post it in a new thread to see if anyone else is interested. I will either do Kingston and sneak over to Loch Lohman or run Bill Moore Lake.

Then you could call it Dapams Jeep.

FYI my Jeep club is having the annual run up Holy Cross the weekend 7/27 - 7/29 so it will be crowded up there. However, they are only running it Friday and Saturday, so if you are running Sunday you all should be in the clear. And since I will be camping up there, I could be up for another run Sunday with you guys too.

I could possibly make it up to Wheeler this Sunday as well.. keep ya posted.

Mike, I think we're just gonna move this back to 8/12.

8/12 works for me. I'm on call the following 3 weeks, so I hope the date doesn't get changed.

BigDaveZJ
07-12-2007, 01:41 PM
Tom, at this point I don't see why the date would get changed. If I can't get my crap running and ready for HC in the next month, I'm just gonna wheel the 250 on Holy Cross. LOL

JohnBoulderCO

Great! August 12th will work for me.

Damn I almost could make 8/12. Just found out I have to be in ON Canada that weekend. I like that Holy Cross trail. You guys have fun now, ya hear.

Aug. 12th should be good for me. Last weekend before school starts up again.

BigDaveZJ

Everything's looking good for us to still make this. Got a few things left to do on the Jeep that I'm gonna get done today, then a test run to Metberry next weekend.

JohnBoulderCO

One week away.:D

BigDaveZJ

Going to test everything out today. I've got some play in the sector shaft on the steering box and still need a t-case skid, but I can do the skid tomorrow, just hope my sector shaft doesn't end up like Kevin's in Moab . . .

JohnBoulderCO

Did you jump to 37's? :D

BigDaveZJ

No, but there's some play in the sector shaft. Did great today though.

BigDaveZJ

So who's still in for this? It's still doable for us to make this happen, but our lives would be MUCH easier if we ran an easier trail on Sunday. We were thinking Wheeler or something where we wouldn't have to camp or get up at the ass-crack of dawn to make it back to town before midnight.

Z
08-07-2007, 11:22 PM
Unfortunately I can't go on the 12th. Cristi, Corey and I are thinking of going on the 11th.

Damn you all and your normal person M-F jobs!!! :flipoff2:

JohnBoulderCO
08-08-2007, 12:05 AM
I could make it either day.
Are you guys going to firm up Saturday?

Z
08-08-2007, 02:38 PM
Dave, we don't want to steal your thunder, but Cristi and I will be going to Holy Cross on Saturday. We're getting the god-awful early start, meeting at the service station near Morrison & I-70 at 7:00 am.

BigDaveZJ
08-08-2007, 02:47 PM
You're not stealing any thunder, lol. Just been way too much going on lately for me to get the things done that I need to do to feel comfortable taking my Jeep up to Holy Cross and then have to worry about getting back at a decent time for those that have to work on Monday.

I think we'll hit Wheeler instead. I'll change the thread title too!

JohnBoulderCO

I saw some pics of FC and it didn't look THAT bad up there. I would think Cristi would at least be able to make it through on 37's and then give anyone a tug that needs it.

Looks like Holy Cross is closed this weekend . . . .

http://www.colorado4x4.org/vbb/showthread.php?t=102938

So who's up for Wheeler on Sunday?? LOL

EDIT: Maybe it's not closed, working on trying to find what YEAR they're talking about.

Double EDIT: Nevermind . . . . it's ancient
