All dana 50s are TTB right? A friend of mine works at 4 wheel parts, and one of the techs there told him that the solid axles found in 96+ f250s are dana 50s and the dana 60 is only in the f350....

I couldnt find any information on the web to back this up...

I can't say for sure, but I think your friend might be right. Early gen Super-Duties, both 250s and 350s I think had D50 solid axles. It was later that both got D60 fronts.

Yes, some of the 250's are solid 50's.

I think it was in petersens they said all the newer 250's and 350's had dana 50's in them.

I'm pretty sure it's the older ones that have the 50s, newer have the 60s....I do remember reading it somewhere...maybe I have it backwards, dunno

Weird. From what ive read, the 50 is a bag of shit compared to the 60, yet the external appearance is nearly identical...?

I do see some of the 50s have a cast "50" on the bottom of the centersection...which would aid many junk yard scavengers.

I just dont want to be searching one day and coming across my 90 dollar 60 and later find out its a 50...

If you find a 90 dollar, open knuckle 60 you will be very lucky guy.

Not to beat a dead horse but the reason the 50 is a bag of shit is because it's basically a 44 lol

Half off every tuesday and thursday at a Pick a Part here in Phoenix...On regular days youll spend 180 for a front full size axle....Thats why i spent 90 on my hp44 in the other thread....

Ive seen 2 hpD60s

tell you what, you find me a hp kingpin 60-complete kunckle to knuckle-- and I'll send you 600 bucks and I'll arrange shipping. Hell, I'd probably even be in for a BJ 60 as long as it isn't one of those vacuum disco'd dodge versions that I have no desire to mess with.

If you pull a 44 for 90, pull a couple dozen spare axle shafts and sell them. I've had to spend 50-100 bucks for spare shafts in the past depending on my need and timing.
