Took 900 pics, I have to do some post-processing at about 10 seconds/picture - 150 minutes, or 2.5 hours to edit them. Then probably another 2-3 hours to upload them:(

No. I'm basically responsible for every bit of damage that poor jeep has ever received.

It was a good time. I'll put some pictures up when I get them from my "groupies" as Tom called them.

you would theoretically have to go wheelin more than once every 2 years to have a good chance of catching something like that ;)

No one made Rock Pile (we used the alternate route) or Rocker Knocker, not even Ron. Ron did give the Rock Pile a few good tries, he got up in the air!

I lost my ARB compressor on Rocker Knocker. Lost it before, but thought I fixed it. So I was open/open. I had to winch Knocker and the Rock Pile alternate route. I made all the other obstacles open/open.

Just have Cliffhanger done, is taking ~1 hour for every 300 pics.

http://www.arlojeep.com/Trip-Reports/Moab-6-16-07/Cliffhanger-6-16-07/

Dropping into the first obstacle:
http://www.arlojeep.com/Trip-Reports/Moab-6-16-07/Cliffhanger-6-16-07/Weberized/IMG_9821_resize.JPG

Ok so there are like 3 obstacles (2 ledges going down and one going up) in the first 1/4 mile or so - it took us ~3 hours to do that part...Here is the obstacle that held everyone up:

Soooo close to getting up:
http://www.arlojeep.com/Trip-Reports/Moab-6-16-07/Cliffhanger-6-16-07/Weberized/IMG_9866_resize.JPG

However one more chance and I might have ended up like Matt who spun his drive shaft on a rock taking a similar line as the one I failed on:
http://www.arlojeep.com/Trip-Reports/Moab-6-16-07/Cliffhanger-6-16-07/Weberized/IMG_9906_resize.JPG

He is still in a good mood though:

Taking the bypass to the ledge:
http://www.arlojeep.com/Trip-Reports/Moab-6-16-07/Cliffhanger-6-16-07/Weberized/IMG_9915_resize.JPG

Then we stopped for lunch:

Great pics Matt and Ryan. It seems the pics get better each year too. Ryan you and I are feeling the same pain with downloading huge files. Not sure whats best take the time to reduce the pics first or wait for the full file to load.

I had a good time as usual.

Blaine the TnT WJ LAs will be available in about a month. The kits will be starting around 1800 with belly pan. And yep crazy flex. I need to lengthen my brake lines a little more after seeing the flex it is getting now.

Not sure whats best take the time to reduce the pics first or wait for the full file to load.

You can get a useful little app from Microsoft that lets you batch select and resize a group of pictures with a right mouse click: http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/ImageResizerPowertoySetup.exe
In case you dont know this, you can group select your photos (or any other file) by clicking the first one, hold shift, then click the last one. Then right click on the group and select resize images. Hopefully that will save you a bunch of time.

We missed you all this year. I'm still waiting to see Brian's photos showing the Jeep actually tipping over. The only shots we had were after the fact.

I think that my first mod (after the new passenger side door) will be a Curry anti-rock sway bar. I want to get rid of some of the swaying (and tipping) back and forth.

We (ie Kevin and I) talked about bringing the WJ (in addition to the buggy) to show off his new WJ bumpers but unfortunately 1) no easy way to get it there, and 2) the bumpers aren't done (you reading this Kevin?).

As much fun as the buggy is, I still like rockcrawling in the WJ quite a bit (sometimes better). As much fun as the buggy is, as Cody puts it it's pretty much point and shoot- finesse and driving skills are usually optional. It's nice not having to worry about body damage though. OTOH it really would have been nice to have A\C on Behind the Rocks...ugh it was hot!

That's how it looked to me. I have a bunch of photos of everybody from the same vantage point- when I compare them you started out a little to the passenger side compared to the others (not much, maybe 8-12"). I also suspect you were riding the brake (I would) and when you dropped off the ledge I think it may have caused you to accidentally mash the brake. Thanks for thoughtfully providing us with such a good photo op! :D

I took 9.27 gigs of pics/vids!

The video is taking a little longer to make, I have to convert all my vids from MVI to AVI which it taking forever.

Anyone have any good songs to put in the vid, I'm drawing a blank. (It'll be about 10 mins long)

Matt, I found a good one the other day from Static-X, name of the tune is "I Want To Fucking Break It"

Ya know, I always thought Queen songs were made to be strategically placed in a video for rock crawling:

1. We will Rock you
2. Another one bites the dust
3. We are the champions

... in that order. :) Am I aging myself?

You're also showing your lack of taste in music.

OK, in an effort to stay off topic, I'll play along. What Aretha Franklin song(s) would you like to hear in a GSW video?

PassRunnerZJ

Over all I'm an Alt Nation (21) and Lithium (24) station--Sirrus--kind of guy(a little 22, 29, 33, and 34 I believe) but the jazzy stuff that Adam--I think that is who put it together--put to the Grand Cherokee Country video he did a few years ago flowed good in the background. And he kept the music volume low so you could hear the engines, tire spinning, ans some background talking; which I thought was great. $.02

Matt
06-24-2007, 07:33 PM
Ok, I put the video together today. Thanks for the song suggestions, but sadly, I didn't take any of the offers (1-2-3 Slam - LOL, um... no, and I never want to hear Queen ever again in my life - I had to sing it in 5th grade choir class , sorry Sandy)

Next problem is with keeping it fairly high quality, It came to 140MB and 9:59 min (most sites have a cut off of 10 min). I can't really find a host for the 140MB. Youtube and Photobucket have a 100MB limit.

I'll check into the google thing though.

I'm pretty happy with the results. It took about 3 hrs and I was getting sick of tinkering, so right now, it is what it is.

Hopefully I can get it up soon!!! ;)

Matt
06-24-2007, 08:24 PM
Well that was quick!

One note: if you click on the arrow pointing down in the bottom right of the movie screen, and then click on "smooth video" and "original size", it looks a bit better. I'd still like to host the 640x480 version though.

Enjoy:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4166982098464398927

Also, a big thanks to my sister Michelle, she took 90% of all the pics/vids that I have.

(I tired to put a pic/vid of everyone I had in the video, but most where of me. :) )

BigDaveZJ
06-24-2007, 08:51 PM
Matt, if you need a bigger host for something like a GSW vid, just let me know. It'd be a PITA to get you set up to FTP it, but since we're so close you could just toss it on a CD or DVD and I could throw it up.

I suppose it a matter of dad showing up the boys. Ok I better stop now my boys are getting older and one will be driving in a little more than a year.

This was a great moderate trail to run that has outstanding views of the valleys, quite a few moderate ledges to play on, a sandy rocky hill to climb (I hear, we didn't make it that far) and was ~15° cooler than the lower elevation trails.

Is there any chance that on the next event or one of the next ones i would be able to hitch a ride with someone and just check out the whole thing so i can learn how its done and see what its like? Im not sure where exactly the events are but i read somewhere about a grand slam mid west i think? that would work out best for me so i dont have to travel too far. I love my jeep but idk if i could risk it the first time.
