We might be up for something Sunday or Monday. Both Jeeps are wheelable right now, which is a first in a while, but the tow rig is down and out right, but SHOULD be ready to go by this weekend. Or at least I hope so, the less time I DD the ZJ the better!!!

Sunday or Monday would work for me. Trail suggestions?

BigDaveZJ
05-22-2007, 08:08 PM
Going to get the truck in the morning so I should be ready to go. I SHOULD be off Sunday and Monday but really have no idea as my schedule for next week isn't out yet. What all is even open at this point?

JohnBoulderCO
05-22-2007, 08:26 PM
Hopefully the truck fix isn't too much $$$. I'm not sure what is open. We could check on co4x4 board for some trail info.

The bill shouldn't be too much, but DEFINITELY worth it. It wasn't easy for me to pay someone to work on my shit, but after messing with part of it Friday night, I was happy to let someone else do it.

I'm game for just about anything. I'd love to do something different that I haven't done yet. But I'm low on suggestions.

I might be in for Sunday. Not sure yet. I am getting my exhaust done and few other nit noid things to do. Since I am running out of weekends before GSW I may reserve this weekend to do them.

Monday would work for me too. I've got to get my new Woody installed and re-weld my sliders on Sunday.

Monday MAY work for me. I work, so it'll have to be somewhere close.

Maybe try to open spring creek?

I'm off Sunday and Monday, so we're in!

JohnBoulderCO
05-23-2007, 11:35 AM
Dave, Cool!

I can go Sunday or Monday or both.

The only trails I know for sure that are open are Left Hand Canyon and OCG. Any others open?

Matt, You want to snow bash before work on Monday, on Spring Creek? I think you will end up late to work or on your side or both. Ask Stan about rushing that trail.

BigDaveZJ
05-23-2007, 11:38 AM
Turns out my truck was running on a whopping 4 cylinders since we left BV on Sunday . . . . . .

Slaughterhouse, OCG, LHC . . . . . . there's gotta be SOMETHING else we could do. I'd be up for OCG again though.

JohnBoulderCO
05-23-2007, 11:41 AM
OCG on Sunday? LHC on Monday? Unless we can find some more options.

BigDaveZJ

We'll probably just wheel on Sunday, not sure where we wanna go yet though.

Good point John, and it sounds like it's snowing up there right now. I need to work on the Jeep a bit(UCA bushing, PS fluid), hopefully I can get that done this weekend. (sucks working 7 days a week)

Dave, glad to hear the truck is top notch once again. ;)

So you have a new Tom Woods DS? If you do. Get a good quality rust proof & repaint it.

What ever they used on my shaft that I install last june right before GSW didn't do well at all this last winter. It looked like the thing was 20 years old. 3/4's of the paint had come off & nothing but rust.

My front shaft looked just like it has since I painted it with rustolium about 3 years ago.

I'd love to hit OCG, but I'm going to have to pass on this trip.

Tomorrow I'm heading up to LHC with some buddies in the XJ. Next weekend were thinking about hitting Hidden Valley on Sunday if anyone wants to tag along.

John,

We won't be ready for Sunday, but I think that we'll have both rigs ready for Monday. We were thinking Moody Hill, Crystal Peak, and maybe the chutes on Kelly flats, or Carnage.

I got my new driveshaft in tonight, and got the linkage working so that I can shift the 231. I have to re-weld my sliders from last season on Sunday but otherwise I should be good to go. Justin is having some electrical problems that need fixed. He gets the electric fan or the lockers but not both.

Saturday I have to help Justin wire some new lights in their kitchen, that was the trade for him helping me put the new t-case in the Jeep.

Anyone else for a Monday run?

Verlan

JohnBoulderCO

I've never done Kelly Flats chutes. They look "nice" on the pics I have seen.

dads5.9
05-25-2007, 10:57 PM
We've looked at them before but 33's seemed small for the size of the steps. The large amount of paint on the rocks along with brocken taillight lenses seemed like a warning. 35's, long arms and more paint scrapes makes it seem like a better idea now.

They are supposed to open Crystal Mtn this weekend after they do the annual trail clean-up.

Hey guys

I'm wanting to wheel on Sunday or Monday so if a plan is nailed down on this thread, I'd like to tag along. I'll ckeck back every couple hrs to see how this is shaping up.

Rick

Sunday at OCG is the plan at the moment. Waiting to see if Pam has taken enough Vit C to make it. If so, that would make Dave, Pam, egg (name?), me and maybe Keith. Meet at the Fort? Pick a time and I will be there.

Who else?

------------

Monday, has another group collecting. Vern, Justin...who else?

------------

I'm going to be in the garage, then out on a trail, so I won't check back until later today.

See you all there!!!

Rick what is your setup? I am may be down for something fast and easier on Monday. I am trying to get the wife to go, and I am going to put the 32s on and check the fit. It might be a short day for me. Who knows.

They are refering to The Fort Restuarant not the trail head. The Fort is located just off 285 in Morrison (I think). 8:30 at the trail would kill me. it's about 2 - 2 1/2hours from our house to the trail head...

I got the CV I broke at carnage last weekend repaired today, so as long as my network change tonight goes well I'll be able to wheel in the AM :)

What time were you thinking of meeting up at the fort?

JohnBoulderCO
05-26-2007, 09:12 PM
I will be at the Fort at 8:30am. http://www.thefort.com/ Looking forward to runnig OCG! :D

I just got back from Carnage (LHC). Matt did it in his XJ on 31's. He did get some carnage. He said he would post pics.

A few broken rigs on the trail, a Scout (fan hit his radiator), a XJ (axle shaft), a guy with his mother's Pathfinder (he put a few dents in it and didn't know how to drive at all, stuck and blocking the trail), made it longer then usually.

29's! :flipoff2:

Carnage is fun in a stocker (at least today it was)!

Shouldn't have pushed it on the way down lefthand, then I'd be more or less damage free. But oh well, something to remember the day by. And the kids/hillbilly's were making me mad.

I'll get some pics together and post a trip report.

Sorry everyone. Not going to make this trip this morning.

K2, I have fairly built-up 96 ZJ with long arms, 35s, Full width HP D44 front and a 9inch rear with detroits and hydro assist steering.

My family is still just waking up.

I'm going to get my trailer and be ready to go to either Lefthand this afternoon or somewhere tomorrow morining. On Colo 4x4, I see one guy from the Springs going to Carnage BV tomorrow looking for some company

I am out. I got my e-fan in today, as well as tried on the 32s. The look great but they rub my springs. I need different rims to fit them. I am going to have to get my "new" 31s mounted this week. Have fun.

who ever else is interested, we will be running Moody Hill, Crystal Mtn. and what is left of Kelly Flats (heart attack and the chutes). We are planning to meet at the park 'n ride just off of I-25 and Harmony (Fort collins) at 9:00 AM.

Turn left once you get off I-25 then the park and ride is on the north side.

Post up if you are in so we can get an idea of who to expect.

We hit the trailhead about 11, were off by 3:30. We saw a ZJ where the exit of Carnage meets up with OCG, but never saw an owner for it.

we ended hitting the trail at about 10, but it took us a little over an hour to get to the carnage exit because of traffic. we must have just missed each other. we walked down to carnage to see if any buggies were trying that last part of the trail. we ended up wheeling with a bunch of nice cjs with cool owners the rest of the day, all in all fun day, cool trail

We probably left the new obstacle JUST as you guys were coming up.
