I'll start off by saying I have a 96 ZJ laredo. I picked it up for cheap right before winter from a lady who thgought the tranny was gone. A couple of rubber hose tranny lines later and I was off and running. Here it was when I got it:

Careful scrounging scored me a used 3.5" pro comp lift and eventually a set of 33x12.5" MTR's on black steelies. I also got a tereflex bb with the rest of the lift but decided I didn't want to use it. I'm not afraid to cut, and, after some poking around I here I found the answers I was looking for. (Thanks Yota Tony, told you I was building a clone lol)
So I got busy this weekened and did some hacking away. Here it sit's now

So, a little beating of the pinch weld in the rear of the front wheelwells, and a lot of careful cutting everything fit's nice with no rubbing whatsoever on the street. Who says 33's don't fit with 3.5" :smt080 I'll hopefully have the time to see what hits when I really flex it soon.

Thats sick!
I love the 96-98 green over my 95 green..ugh wish I had yours.

That cut looks nice, IMO you should cut the bumper like I did, it will take away ANY rubbing issues you have, if you do, and I think it looks great because it sits as high as an ARB would ..

Cut this off

Not telling you what to do to your rig by any means..just thought Id let you know what I did, see if you like it

I just used a dremel to cut the bumper if you are wondering

keep up the great work!

EDIT, after posting this, it looks like you have fog lights, so you prob wont wanna get rid of em and cut, sorry for not looking

Not me?? LOL I've been running 3.5" RE springs with 33's for over 3 years now. It's a good setup, good tire size and it keeps everything pretty low.

Personally I like how bottlebird trimmed his. That's how I trimmed mine and really liked it. Like most...I'm bumperless in the front now from a nice ridge trying to climb out of a river bed

Looks good man.

You sure you don't rub in the rear at FULL stuff?

It's good you didn't follow tony's example of trimming...IIRC it looked a little jagged.

It might rub the rear at full stuff, I haven't really flexed it out yet. When I half assed measured it with my hand the distance from the bump stop to the axle and the distance from the tire to the lip seems about the same so I'm guessing it might, but, if it does hopefully it won't be too bad. I didn't want to get into hacking up the rear wheelhouse just yet if I didn't have to. If it hits bad off road then I'll cut some more in the rear. But for now I'm taking a wait and see approach. The front doesn't rub at all under normal daily use and that was my biggest concern. So far so good.

Yeah, exactly one of the reasons I left it on. I still have the fog lights, and, they're still in one piece. A friend of mine is in the middle of building a tubing bender from some plans he got online. As long as that works out I'm probably going to make a copy of Kevin's tube bumpers.

Yup, I agree, I absolutely love it. I didn't want to go sky high to clear the tires and totally ruin the trucks on road manners. I'd rather keep the cg low and tuck the rubber in.

And thanks for the compliments on the cut job. I'm a body man by trade so I have all the right stuff laying around to make it come out decent. Plus it had to look good so I didn't get laughed out of the shop by my co workers lol.
Next step, AX-15 swap. I have all the parts sitting around to do it, I just can't bring myself to pull the auto out while it still works ok. As soon as it goes though I'll be shifting for myslef :D

Low, lots of clearance and big tires is the best set up.

That's what my Toyota will be.
