Here's the deal, my little bro wants to fit 285's on his chevy. He asked me to help him with this, but I honestly don't know shit about them. I'm thinking the rear would be fine but the front could use a leveling kit of some kind.. or crank down on the torsion bar... but i don't want it to ride goofy like some IFS leveling kits do (tires cambered in) does anyone know anything about these trucks or at least maybe a good chevy BB that can point me in the right direction?

Well my best friend wanted to fit 34's on his '98 1500 and he used a 4 inch body lift and it seemed to work out great. But thats just a body lift not a suspension lift. He also had the torsion bars cranked down some to level it off.:smt069 :screwy:

I had 35's on my Z71 with a 3" body lift. No adjustment to the torsion bars.

Stay away from the body lift, I had a '99 2500 silverado with a 4inch suspension 3in body on 38's. I regret the body lift, it look like ass. You can buy larger keys for your torsion bars, crank them up and put blocks in the rear under those leafs. Should get a couple inches.

I have 285's on my wife's '99 4x4 suburban. Everything is stock, rims, height no adjustment to anything. They fit fine with no rubbing. I've even had it out in the dirt flexed and it didn't really rub that much. I can't see why the '01 would be different.
