I've been a long-time fan of this site and thought I'd finally join in.

I love my WJ, but, as always, I have future mods in mind. Here are some pics:

Or atleast scratch the paint up a little bit. If you want to save up for some more mods, try not washing it for a couple weeks. ;)

Welcome

how is the ride with the rubicon express shocks? i'm stocking up for a BB and i need new shocks, looking for something on the stiff side.

Glad to see you ditched the mudflapps. That thing is nice, too nice to beat, looks like you probably DD, it so I'm sure it's not wheeled very hard. Nice.

The Rubicons are fantastic! Better ride than stock. I wouldn't say they're on the stiff side, so much as they're firm in a controlled handling kind of way, not a jarring way at all. Kevin (http://www.kevinsoffroad.com) recommended them as a more economical alternative to the adjustable shocks. I HIGHLY recommend them. :smt101 I would consider the RE long arm kit or any RE product for my rig or if I were to get a JK Unlimited in the future.

No matter what shocks you get, I would also recommend the JKS Bar Pin Eliminators. Not only are they supposed to lengthen the life of shocks used off-road, they give the front shocks added beef and tightness where they're mounted to the axle. They got rid of the little noises I was getting during flex. :smt023 I got them from Kevin as well.

Also, if you're planning on getting BB spacers, Kevin's 2.5" are great too. He makes them from great materials. I believe he said they're fabricated from the same material as a compound that's used for industrial-strength parts.

Actually, the pics without the splash guards were taken right after the lift was added. :o I put them on after an off-road excursion where I ran into mud that had a lot of little stones in it. It made quite a mess, and began to leave small nicks in the paint. Since this is my daily driver, and I want to hang on to this baby for a long time, I found some small molded guards that don't hang down very far. They haven't gotten hung up, and I actually like the way they look. I hate the flaps that hang down further...

Thanks for the kudos! :smt003

Reason #256 for having a lift: Rush hour damage control.

So, I was taking my kids to school Monday around 8:40am in Phoenix. Like most days, I was merging onto I-10 where cars come from 2 separate directions to join the highway traffic. I was just about to explain to my son what the phrase "the odds are against him," means in Speed Racer, which was playing on my iPod, when WHAM, I got hit! After shouting an explitive, I pulled over to assess the damage. There were 2 other vehicles involved. As I walked to the back of my GC, I saw the bumper of the first car, who hit the Sport Trac which was launched at my Jeep, laying in the middle of the highway. My sense of dread was building. As I got to the back of my rig, I couldn't believe what I saw! The only thing that happened to it was the rubber trailer hitch receiver was popped up!! I couldn't believe it! I did a double-take and checked everything over. Nothing! The Sport Trac had hit me square in the center of the receiver!!! The cops took a look at it and told me I could leave, as there was no damage.

Now, if I wouldn't have had my lift, my bumper may have looked like the Sport Trac's rear bumper where the black car hit it. I am so glad I have a lift!

Shoot me a pm sometime so we can go get some body damage on that sucker...

But seriously those tail light guards are only good for keeping brush off...One rock and it will destroy everything.

I definitely will! This is my DD, so go easy on me! :o

Yeah, I know the guards aren't worth much protection except from brush and general bone-headed mistakes, which is all they need to do. I got them on clearance from a place in Tucson for $34, so they're worth it. I've always liked the way they look, and I load stuff in the back quite a bit and sometimes get clumsy. They've already come in handy keeping my 6-year-old son from cracking the lenses when he helps load up after soccer.
