Some of you may remember the X-Terra me and Rich have done alot of work. This past summer we did a SAS on it with a waggy D44 and built a rear bumper with swing down tire carrier. Just to refreshen your memory.

Well we finally got around to getting rid of his Shrockworks front bumper and put this little pre-runner stinger bumper together. It still needs a little work with a winch mount between the frame rails but I think it turned out pretty good.

After loking at the first fwe lpics i as gunna say it needed sheetmetal, but hte last twp solved that for me, looks badass. How heavy is tht swingdown cariaer for you?

Its pretty light. The top is supported by the roof rack which is not a problem because the owner of the X is 6'5".

We just finished up a bumper for an R50 pathfinder or a 99-03 Infiniti QX4. Will get pics when it is mounted on the truck.

We just finished up a rear bumper for an Infinity QX4. It is going to be shipped out in a couple days (to Chicago) so whenever he gets it mounted I'll get some better pics.

Its got a tire carrier, hi-lift mount, clevis shackles, hitch, license plate light, and all the little odds and ends.

Awsome job Elliot keep up the good work.

Can you PM me a price for one for a WJ that has a tire carrier, hi-lift mount, clevis shackles, hitch and license plate frame?

Looking good !

Im going to go that route with my ZJ and tire carrier... I might have the wheel between the tube and body.

Allow me to take this opportunity to offer my WJ for any prototype bumper fabrication.

Different ? No, its smarter IMO... 3 attachment points rather than 2 and a rattle trap !

Beside 42s are hella heall heavy and its my only option reallly. So this is a great idea.

How much flex is there in the frame on that Xterra? I saw the mounts for the tire are flexible, but are you worried about that top mount ripping off the roof rack if the suspension is all bound up?
One time on my XJ I got stuck when one of the front tires went in a hole. It was flexed up, and when I opened the rear hatch to get out my strap the hatch wouldn't close back. The latch didn't line up until I got pulled out and the suspension was all unbounded.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's a lot of stress on that top mount whenever the suspension flexes. Maybe Xterras don't twist as much as XJs though. I could be wrong.
Carrier looks good though. I like that front bumper too.

i know for a fact that xj's have some very flexy unibodies....your experience proved that. I would have to believe that the x terra have a more torsional rigidity, if for no other reason that they have a frame, however i wouldn't doubt that the body mounts do make the frame (where the bumper is mounted) and the body (where the top latch is indirectly mounted) move around a little bit differently from one another. looking at the pix of that nissan i'd say he'd prolly know by know if there were any serious issues....

Do not open a ZJ / XJ's hatch when flexed...

Can you say FRAME? :D

It's holding up fine several months later.

It's funny that I came across this thread when thinking about making a rear bumper for the Cruiser. I think I'll make one identical to the second one, good for a spare tire and extra gas or water jerry cans.
